As the new year starts off I start looking at local guest speakers that would like to speak at Limit Out Marine. I try and look for new people every year so it does not get repetitive and to give our listeners some new tactics. I have come to learn that their are lots of great fisherman who can not or will not stand up and speak in front of people. Over the last 10 years it has been pretty much the same core group of guys passing on information and promoting the sport. With that being said they are not afraid to teach a competitor how to catch them or what they use. Here is my list of guest speakers that are local that are not afraid to speak! Also if you would like to be a guest speaker contact me. If I forgot anybody I apologize the names were off the top of my head. Lets hear what you guys have to say on this topic!
Ron Hobbs Jr. Myself
Tag Watson Mike Wolsky
Jordan Doucet Marc Marcantonio
Mark Maderos Jon Werner
Willie Parsons Nick Barr
Ryan Brown Don Hogue
Dez Ruffin Ed Chin
Chris Carpenter Russ Baker
People I would like to see speak this year!
Aaron Echternkamp Dana Steiner
Wes Wezenberg Dan Jensen
Taylor Smith Marc Lippincott
Jeremy Tripp Nick Fitzsimmons
Also Aaron Martens will be speaking at the shop on July 13th put that on your calendar. More on that to come........
Thanks
Chris

Great job!
Chris really appreciate what you and Russ do at LOM. The seminars are great and I hope to make more this year. Always love making the drive down there and checking out the shop.
I second that!
I'm qualified to do seminars on the structure and foundation of a quality internet "look-a-like thread".
I'm pretty comfortable on a podium, so just ask...
I see the first one has a representative from the WDFW......who's going to show up and light this guy's ass on fire? Maybe this could be a launch for Dana's political career.
Would love to see Jake's presentation regardless of what the content is - if it's half as thoughtful and witty as his posts it would be VERY entertaining!
Jon I asked Dana to speak but his work schedule right now will not allow it. He will be on board later in the year if his schedule allows. Danny Garrett is a warmwater guy so this should be interesting to throw questions at him. Still waiting to hear who else locally you would like to hear speak?
FYI, Danny Garrett has fished bass touraments (including NWBass) with his father, Jim, and they both can catch 'em. He is one of the young "good guys" in WDFW who has not yet been jaded by the system. If my memory is correct, his mother is/was also a fisheries biologist (with USFWS).
Jon, Danny is not the problem at WDFW. I have known Danny for many years when he was still a college student in our bass club. His dad is "Jim Garrett" who fished and won a few NW Bass tourney's. He has a PHd in warm water fisheries and understands the needs of bass guys because he is one of us. Probably the most qualified dude in WDFW to know what hell is going on the ground.
That being said, there definitely is nothing wrong with throwing him so tough questions, and letting a representative from "The Man" know that we are NOT pleased with the way things are going out here on the receiving end of some wonderful policy making in Olympia!
But I doubt Danny has any political pull other than reporting up the chain of command.

Chris I have been lucky enough to get to know Mike Matkowski and I think he would be a great guest speaker. He is very good on Potholes particularly during the summer and he has caught some giants on the river!
I have met Jim, and he's a very nice guy. I don't know Danny and if he's in the Warmwater department I would agree he most likely isn't the problem. However, when we have the opportunity to let any representative of the department know our feelings,we better take it and make sure our concerns DO get kicked up the ladder.
Also remember it they aren't part of the solution, they are part of the problem, and one of the MAJOR problems with ALL of our public departments is ACCOUNTABILITY!
