Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Received my Lowrance StructureScan unit today, and hope to mount it tomorrow or this weekend at the latest. Looking forward to using it, especially on Lake Washington.

When I get it all setup and put it to use I'll show some screenshots.

I also learned last night that you can actually overlay your traditional 2D view on top of your DownScan view to better show the position of fish. Pretty slick looking views.

Marc, don't underestimate from the lack of response as, that folks are VERY interested. I think everyone is chompin to see your review, I know I am. Can you outline your configuration? LSS-1 and what head unit?

Thanks,

Steve
I got the first HDS5 that Aubun Sports got in, and I have been waiting for this since I got the unit. Too bad I won't have time until March or so to get it and use it. Work sucks! Marc, I would love to go for a ride some time and take a peek at this thing. I heard you are on American alot.

My setup is the following: Two HDS-8's with Insight mapping, networked on a NMEA 2000 network (for all engine functions, oil and fuel level sensors, water temp sensors, fuel flow, etc), and networked with the ethernet cables to the StructureScan module.

With this setup you can view any transducer (sump and bow transducer, and StructureScan transducer) on either or both HDS-8 unit.

I spent all day at Lamiglas today, so I didn't get a chance to mount the StructureScan yet. I'm also waiting to receive a new special transducer shield and bracket that is reported to make mounting easier and better, and protects the transducer from potential damage.

I'll let you know how it all works out. I'm sure I will need time to learn proper adjustment and interpretation experience.

Aaron, PM your contact info and when I put the boat on American Lake to try out the StructureScan I'll see if you are available to ride along.

ciao,
Marc
Spokane Valley Marine has the Structure Scan in stock right now. Got mine on Saturday.

Thanks for the link Marc, that shows alot of great pictures.
Here are my first screen shots on my maiden LSS-1 voyage. The wind was pretty bad, so the boat was really bouncing yet the pictures came out great!

These are on Lake Washington...

Crazy steel:

Not bad clarity for water so rough the waves were soaking me and the boat was bouncing so much it was impossible to drive in a straight line!

ciao,
Marc
