Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Well, here's what I have found out: We will be getting an event permit, with the amount yet to be determined, although it will be less than an individual one, of course. The gates will be manned through Oct 31 to accommodate fishermen. According to the city, the county is on board with the fees. According to Barbara Brenner, (county council) that isn't so. All the audience members were angry right off the bat, and if any PW trucks show up at my house and starts digging up my yard or jack hammering my driveway, let's just say I won't be surprised. If this rule is set in stone, I still would like the annual permit to run from April through March, like our licenses. I have been assured that as soon as PW's legal team authorize the event fee, I will be informed. I emphasized that this event is sixteen days away, we have waited for a very long time, and this probably will negatively impact our club's tournament. He was quite sympathetic, but that was about it. Apparently next year the city and county plans to assess all boats, but there was nothing said about fees. There will be four inspectors at Bloedel, and apparently teams at Sudden Valley and the WDFW ramp as well. As for night fishing, right now that looks like a no-go. I would encourage all of you to email the local governments, and Public Works: teward@cob.org Her name is Teagan Ward, and she looked pretty frazzled to begin with, and didn't look none too good when I was finished. Here is the email address of the county again:council@co.whatcom.wa.us and here is the email address of the city council: ccmail@cob.org
