Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

I purchased a new G loomis NRX rod last friday and got to put in to the test at Lake Roosevelt last weekend. I was a bit sceptical about paying that much for a rod. I have a bunch of GLX rods and at the time I couldn't picture a better feeling rod. I didn't think the rod could get that much better. I was wrong.... I bought the 803 spinning rod. That rod was absolutely the perfect rod. The light weight, sensitivity, and balance was awesome. I really liked the fact that it has the SIC guides at the lower section of the rod and then changes to the titanium ones half way up. It casts way better and isn't loud like the glx ones when you cast. I wish I could afford to change out all of my rods to NRX ones.  If you get a chance, try one of these rods.

I checked them out at Auburn S&M yesterday. There are two things I noticed. I fish my 802 GLX quite a bit as of late so I picked up the NRX and GLX 802. The NRX IS a lighter rod than the GLX. Also, when tapping the tip on the floor, the NRX transmits better then the GLX. The feel was, IMO, much more crisp and clear. I thought these were positive differences, but forking out another 100.00 is pretty steep. I thought overall the NRX are more rigid, which can be good and bad. An 802 NRX will fish much diffeently than a GLX 802 IMO. The NRX are nice, but I left the store pretty happy with my GLX rods.
Funny changing out the rear eye was and idea of mine on my GLX 802,from the first time I use it,I 'm still going to,lol. Do you like the new handle,I really love the handle on my steez 6'8" and 7' spining rods and do they have the thin tip, almost order one yesterday the 6'10" dr mag-med.
Are they really better than the GLX's I have a box full of them.
I purchased the 822 dropshot rod and IT IS as good as they say. I didn't get to test it out too hard but from what I felt I was very impressed. Like Chris, I didn't think it could get much better than the GLX but it certainly is. I would also suggest trying one out of you can fit it in the budget.
C'mon, Jon, just buy one. It always starts with one....

So can you feel the fishes tongue on the handle or what? If a fish bites and I can't feel slime I'm going to be real dissapointed given the hype.
How does the handle fill in hand, small, large is it better than the old handle. oh what the hell I'll just buy one and break it in on the Columbia at the ABA championship!
I also got a NRX rod. NRX 893 JWR. I have fished it two days and absolutely love it. I own numerous Mossyback and GLX rods and this one takes the cake. It is lighter than any other rod I own and a lot more sensative. I have been throwing Neko rigs w/ 6" senkos, weightless senkos, and small jigs on it. You can feel EVERYTHING. It casts very smooth (combined with a Shimano Chronarch D) and loads nicely when a fish is on.

I really wish I could afford to replace all my rods with these as Chris also said, they ARE all they have been cracked up to be... There are lots in stock at Three Rivers if you want to go check them out.
Eric,

The handle is a good size. The poodle grip handle as they call it is a bit larger than a traditional split grip and is comfortable in your hand.

They need to change the name of that grip... Super Gay! (Poodle grip). Might as well have called it the Chihuahua grip and you could get some really cool Schnauzer guides on it.
