Plastics Cause Harm

"A recent study involving the voluntary ingestion of soft plastic fishing lures on brook trout found that discarded fishing lures could be having a detrimental effect on wild trout." This from an article in Internation Angler, the publication of the International Game Fish Association, citing research done by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. The Department is "strongly encouraging anglers to change from using the soft plastic lures to using biogradable lures to help protect the fish....The life expectancy of a soft plastic lure is over 200 years."

I'm putting a plastic worm in my aquarium, in 200 years I'll let you know if it is still there or not and wether or not it has hurt the fish.

As I'm sure many of you have....I've found plastics in the water that have been there maybe a few months, or at most a year, and they are pretty broken down. I can't imagine a plastic holding on for 200 years. That numbers seems bogus.
