Are there any guides on Silver Lake that are worth hiring? The family is thinking about taking a trip there for a couple of days this June.

Hey Larrick,

I don't know of any guides for specifically Silver Lake.  I'm sure there are some but if you have your own boat it's a small enough area you can probably put something together yourself.  I believe Streeters Resort has home made maps that will show you key areas for bass, perch, bluegill, and crappie.  Just ask anyone at any of the stores in the area and someone can give you some good advice.  I live in Longview and have fished Silver since I was a kid.  It's not a hard lake to figure out.  Spinner baits and senko's work well there.  It tends to be a dirty lake so big single Colorado blade spinner baits have been my go to.

I've done fairly well all over the lake for crappie with a 1/32oz. skirt jig with a bit of worm under a bobber.  Red and white, black and green, as well as solid yellow seems to work.  The red white is what I mainly set my kid up on and while I'm pitching senko's for bass he's usually catching everything else including trout with that jig.

Good luck to ya, it's a good little lake.

I believe Nick Barr guides on Silver. NickBarrFishing.com
I could guide you to a 24 pack of PBR's and a good buzz there but that's about it.

A Papa Pete's Pizza goes good with a PBR!

Jordan,

You sound like my kind of guide. When can we hook up. Not sure if 24 is enough, but should get us started.

Jordan I don't have access to PBR but I could hook you up with a couple of 40's of Old Gold. Colt 45 if you are feeling really sophisticated.

I've fished that lake since 1979. If you want Jordan's secret spots then I'm your man.  And its only gonna cost you some cuban cigars and a pitcher a papa Petes.
