Here's an awesome article from the crew at Wired2Fish. I like the idea of hand warmers under the wrist bands: http://www.wired2fish.com/warm-on-the-water-keeping-your-core-cozy/

Good stuff.  If I'm wearing a stocking cap, balaclava, or a neck warmer (for skiing) I tuck a hand-warmer in right at the base of my skull.  Something about that spot seems to keep me much warmer over all.

That's a good idea but I like ace bandaging one to the part of the rod you hold. Like a rod wrap. I wish I would've taken my own advice last time; man were my hands cold!. You can also just put one in your palm and hold itagainst the rod without wrapping it to the rod; and that works too.

Nothing is worse than gripping a metal calcutta 400 on a cold, windy, rainy/snowy winter day, but it sure can pay off sometimes!

I'm guilty of fishing under-prepared a lot of the times in the winter, luckily this Winter I haven't fished a ton and when I have/will its been down at Havasu! :D

Hey Colby, I sent you a friend request so we could have a PM chat. I'm heading to Havasu late March this year for 5 days. I'll have access to a boat for some of that. If you have any pointers about the lake that you care to share let me know. I want to do my best to allow my Dad catch a decent sized bass or two.

A few days in a tree stand in below freezing temps will teach you all sorts of tricks on how to stay warm. If you don't figure them out you quit hunting or get frost bite. Adhesive hand/body warmers on your kidneys makes an enormous difference on overall body temp. If your blood is warm you are warm. Your kidneys are the closest organ to your skin and filter all your blood so getting the kidneys warm is very helpful.

Are you sure that the closest organ to your skin are your kidneys?

HAHAH I'm not a doctor......    And I've never played one on TV....     ....But I'm pretty sure there are other organs closer to your skin.  But hey that might work. After all Pete keeps a handwarmer in his beanie. :)
