Congrats to Chris Ferry and Dez Ruffin for qualifing to move on to the nationals by placing first and second on the Washington state team the past three days. Great job guys!

Looks like fishing was tough with a lot of small fish.

Thanks for the kind words guyz !! Congrats too Chris Ferry for a fine job on a tuff lake .. And my hats off to our entire team for our 2nd place standing against 4 other states .. If i dont ever have to see that body of water in my lifetime , im sooo okay with that , 2.11 oz being bigfish over 3days thats tuff ..

Thanks again guys ..

DEZ
Thanks you brain .. your pannic minnow acounted for 99% of my fish .. Every bed fish that i came across it only took one cast to get bit , the fish would see that bait swim down too them and once it hit the bed they couldnt stand it !!!! ..
When i fished the bluff walls and had to swim my bait back to the boat those minnows got it done !!!

Good job guys!
Thanks everyone! Yellowtail Reservoir does not have a great population of fish, and lots of small fish. This body of water looked huge until you get there and then you realize that only 30% of the lake is fishable the rest is shear canyon walls with 300+ feet of water 5 feet from the wall. The patterns there changed daily. The team found that in a matter of a few pre-fish days that the fish had pushed up onto beds in 54 degree water on the north end where as the south end temps were 65-70 degrees and lots of post spawn and the water was dirty. We decided as a team to concentrate on bedding fish on day one because their were not that many areas holding the better fish and they would not last past day 1. Dropshot for beds and a flick shake for prespawn areas worked best. Day 2 there were some fish still on beds and we cleaned up the remaining and started targeting prespawners or cruising females. Day 3 targeted cruising fish started with a dropshot and found that they just were not eating it so slowed down and went to a weightless wacky rigged 4" senko and proceeded to catch 4 limits behind the tournament leader. Another pattern that was producing for some guys was setting up un bluff walls 15' away casting a dropshot clicking over your bail and letting it pengelum swing back to the boat once stopped under the boat the fish would bite. Congrats to all who fished it was tough. On another note the Brown trout and Rainbow trout fishing was unbeleivable some guys caught fish in the 30" range.
That is an All-Star team we put together.
Great job Chris! Thanks for the writeup...I thought what you said about the dropshot on steep walls was really interesting!
