I do both, but seem to be better at the fun fishing....haha.  Tournament fishing IS fun for me though.

I hate the term "fun fishing".  I don't even know what that means.  I don't fish tournies, but I'm out there to try to catch big fish every time out.  If I'm not fishing well, I'm pi$$3d off.

I just love to bass fish. I have no interest in tourney fishing, but I understand why people do. Now Clif with that 30 pack comment, hmmm....

I have never fished a tournament, I fish a lot for fun/relaxation. I am very competitive though, and fear that if I start fishing tournaments I will be consumed by it. My family already sacrifices enough due to business.

I respect tournament fishermen when I see them on the water competing, give them first crack at spots, and generally try to stay away from them while they do their thing.

I have had the tournament bug since my first one. But im just now getting to the point where i enjoy it as much as fun fishing.

I would say the same as others. I fish tournaments for fun. I kind of wish sometimes that I had started "fun fishing" before I tried my first tournament. It just happened that my first day of bass fishing was my first tournament. In fact I caught my first small mouth that day. I got conned into it by a buddy and had no idea what I was getting myself into. I didn't even own a single rod or bait but he wanted a buddy to fish that tournament with. That was 5 years ago and my life has never been the same since. In retrospect it wasn't the smartest path to competitive fishing but it did force me to do things I may have never tried other wise.

Currently I'm a "fun fisherman" but I would love to get in to the tournament scene. Right now I'm too busy with school to really commit enough time to it to be successful. Someday tho!

I love tournament fishing. I mainly fish club tournaments. You start getting above $200 to enter a tournament and it doesn't seem to be as much fun when you don't have $200 to spend.

 

I can go out the weekend before and not catch a fish but instead looking for spots to catch fish and to me that is more fun that just catch fish and having medocre tournament finishes.
