A couple questions for you motor heads/do it yourself mechanics out there...

1. My water pressure gauge is not working properly. I have water "pissing" out of my motor so I know I am getting water pressure but just the gauge is not working. What do I need to check or fix?

2. I am having overheating issues when I idle in gear for an extended period of time. I just had the water pump changed (the problem was there before it was replaced and that is what I thought was causing it) and my spark plugs, fuel/water seperator, and inline fuel filter changed as well. What could be causing this? I don't think the idle is set to low because it is not sounding like it is going to die at all and it is "pissing" good while I idle around. Is it the thermostats? Any ideas, anyone?

To question #1.  Could be the line running from the motor to the water pressure gauge is plugged, kinked, has leak, etc.... causing the gauge to not read properly or low.

To question #2.   Definitely beyond my scope of "Give me an axe and I will fix it" abilities!!!

Definitely call someone before you end up with a popped motor.

Daniel has helped me with a few issues too.  I would recommend him as well.  Good luck Nick - we need to get out here shortly.
For sure, you saw what happened last time! (:

What motor is it ?

Im working with Three Rivers Marine to get the problem fixed, I was just curious if anyone had any ideas of their own.

Thanks.

Just trying to point him to someone that has some knowledge. I see you offered no suggestions at all. Exactly how did that help?

If I remember right when I was with you a few weeks ago, it was pissing but not as much as it should be. Did the new pump change that? If not, I would take an air nozzle and blow out the lines. I think you have a bit of Potholes packed in your Yami. Lmao!
Since I know you have already replaced the Waterpump last month due to this issue the next thing to check is the poppet valve as far as the overheat issue.
I am going to get a water pressure gauge installed just for this reason Nick.  I had my boat actually quit p****** at Potholes last year after running through inches of water.  I just ran in on low RPMS and went up to the shop, pulled the cowling and shot the grit out of the little black line and she was fine.  I do know that motors can have serious issues with water pressure that will not stop the water flow but can cause overheating and motor failure.  Glad you're getting it checked out they'll figure it out for ya!

I am thinking may be one of two things.

1. When Water pump was replaced the water pump gromett was not transfered which happens sometimes depending on who did repair.

2.Pressure sensor at back of block is plugged with Gravel or debri. Not a T stat issue.

Hope this helps.
