Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

I'm new to this sport and all but i know that this time last year i was catching more fish for the time of year. Does anyone else think that this weather were having is effecting the fishing in certain lakes. Will the spawn be held back? Or will the fish just go straight from the deeper water to the shallows for the spawn. I honestly have no clue Im still new so i just want to see what some of you more knowledgeable fishermen think.

Thanks

Water temps are colder this time of year right now then they were last year

Fish were already on beds on some lakes at this time last year and so far this year not one up on a bed yet.

So id have to say based on the weather the spawn is going to be pushed back a little till we get some more stable warmer weather.

Spawn is not dictated by water temp alone, but it is a mixture of many factors that dictate when fish move shallow and start fanning beds.  Daylight, stable water temps, and moon phases are the 3 main things that I know of.  Ron and Marc can tell you far more!  Based on my assessment of many lakes eastern WA and western as of right now we are behind... In my opinion our prespawn bite is what has been either unusually poor or is just late... or I just suck.

Just read this article about Chelan.  Check it out.

Also, check out the webcam of Lake Chelan at Campbells resort.  Shows how low the water still is.

That is going to be super helpful to the question that was asked about the spawn.

Thanks Josh.  Since it talks about lake levels and water temps for this year compared to years past, I thought it would be an interesting read for some.  Sure it isn't directly related to the spawn per say, but lake levels and water temps were part of the discussion.

Like the saying goes, if you don't have anything nice to say.......
