Cris, I may only be 15, and know nothing about winter smallies but this is what he asked, "where are they biting and on what." Yeah, you answered the second part of that message. But, how will past threads let him know where the fish are hitting? I'm just saying, you could have answered it a bit nicer, and more considerate. As that's what this site is for.

In the water and on my custom OMG craw. Seriously though, rephrase and think about how you ask and research the site first.
from what I have heard smallies are from 30-50' or greater and Largemouth I am not to sure. You can use spoons for vertically jigging, carolina rig, dropshot or a football head jig 3/4 to 1 ounce. Good electronics are important to find cover, rock piles, humps, drop offs etc. Good luck I have been skunked my last 4 times out so actually disregard everything I just said because its useless.
Like Chris said they are biting in the water, and they are usually biting my hook.
Vague vs. Vague.
Try to put a little more effort into your post and I will try to put a little more effort into my answer. I am suprised anyone answered.
Boy there sure are some people on this site that are not so friendly. I thought that this site was for people to ask questions and get some help. After all not all of us are pros.
Much better, I'm sure the answers will be flowing in.

klutz there a millions of pages to read regarding this topic
purchase smallmouth bass by in fisherman this will give you tons of information and you will be able to ask reasonable qestions
furthermore klutz the question WAS answered, smallmouth bite all winter long go drag a grub/hula grub/jig through rock in 35 - 60 feet of water on any lake that has smallmouth and you will stand a chance of hooking one...however, this time of the year keep your expectations low

why?
this site is geared around competitive anglers, and competition is not always "nice".
i realize adam is a young guy, and if he is truly looking for help he will get more than he can use here. he will also get an education on how to ask questioins and "mine" for information.
note to Adam: spend some time reading old posts and you will garner a ton of information, and you will be able to ask specific questions and get specific answers (you will also get some beatdowns, like this post, but don't take it personally)

His question may have been vague but I guarantee every one on here knew what he was asking. Everyone can be a little nicer.
