Go Steelhead fishing. Too cold to be out in the boat!

My favorite technique is staying indoors where it's warm, doing some lure making, and getting my gear ready for when it's not so dang cold!

But when I can't stand it any more, and I have to get out, it's maraboo jigs, and flutter spoons. I dont have the patience this time of year to beat fish over the head with a drop shot, unless there's money involved...

They might be few, and far between, but finding those "active" feeders in the winter is awesome!

I sit in front of fire place and eat pickled carp i can!

I probably go out more then most of the guys i know during the winter. Washington can be alot of fun this time of year.As well as that stubborn Lake Sammamish. You can catch fish anywhere from 35 to 60 ft,thats about max for me in the winter. 5 to 10 fish days aren't that hard to come by if you put in the homework and find them. The last couple seasons i have done very well dropshotting . Seems to change every other year for me as far as baits go.One year its mostly Fb Heads then the next its dropshot. Kinda weird.

As far as colors go,its kinda a toss up between a natural color and somethin with some purples or blues in it also.Confidence baits always work. Ya gotta go with what works for you....I cant say i have caught them slow rolling crankbaits, and if ya have my hats off to you.I think thats deffinetley right time, right place during the winter. Rev Rigging not included..

For me its just getting out of the house and putting all the B.S aside for about 8 hrs. There isnt anything better in my opinion. For all of you sitting on the couch at home missing out. THANKS! More for me! See ya on the water...

What Mike said!!! Love to get out Steelhead fishing in the winter rather than the big water.

But for bass, one hand in the pocket, the other hand dragging something around, keeping constant contact with the bottom.

Most often, its a 3/4 or 1oz football head with some sort of plastic with little movement like a beaver...

It's important to get out and run your boat in the winter time if don't winterize it. I am about a due! Some stabil and ring-free addative as well.

For winter time I am almost always using a 3/4oz football jig with something on the back that looks like a Sculpin.  I have done some dropshot fishing during the winter, but I prefer the jig and I think it gets bigger bites.  I think this weekend I might have to run the boat around a little!

Thats cool stuff shawn nick an pj!!! Im just that crazy guy that will fish any weather in any season, a nice hot coffee and a line in the water makes me happy. it all started with a christmas eve trip to silver lake, snowin then ice rain tossin those dang bandit crankbaits lol good times! im gonna try that drop shotin more this year, buld that confidence up!!

Anybody get after it on the Eastside this time of year? I had to break through some ice last weekend in the marina, but the rest of the river is still wet. Didn't fish, just worked on boat (garden hose was frozen at the house (: ). Never caught a bass on the river during Dec, Jan, Feb or March. Wondering if anybody else does?

I thought about it, but with all the restrictions for Steelhead it limits the baits, and it's just plain cold.

Going to try this Sunday weather permitting . supposed to be 50's for highs . hope for no or low wind .

Water temp might reach 40 . we'll see. Don't watch football so I should have the river to myself.
