Bill and I will be fishing both days.  It should be fun!

We will be there, and it will be a grind!

Nick and I will be there both days gronding it out.

how was day 1?

Heard 8.41 won it team Rose/Kidder for day one and 13+ for day two team of Ducet/Edison.

Vic Rose and Jim Kidder won day 1 with 8.8lbs I believe. Chad and I came in second with 8.38lbs. 3rd place was Marcantonio and Kessler with 4 fish for 7-ish pounds and big fish of 3.1lbs.

Day 2 Chad and I got some better bites day two and weighed 13.8lbs with big fish of 4.48lbs. Second place was Berto/Ferry with 6+lbs for five fish.

Overall this tournament was about how everyone expected. Limits were rare, not many bites or fish and the ones that were caught were small.

Good job Jordan and Chad.  How did you catch 'em on Sunday?

Results are posted - this may be an indication of how tough it really was...

Marc,

We basically did the same thing we did on Saturday but got the right kind of bites. We had less bites overall, maybe 8 bites all day Sunday and caught 6 fish, but the quality seemed better. The bite certainly got better for us as the day went on and the fish were more predictable. If I had to put my finger on it, I would say that we made more of an effort to get deeper back into the cover,  and contrary to what most said about fishing slow we sped up a bit since we realized that the better bites came as soon as the bait hit the water. We were also able to go behind guys that had just worked an area and catch fish, so I believe this technique to be a big reason for that.

No secret on the baits we were using, and it didn't seem to make a big difference. We pitched Berkley Havoc baits of various styles depending on the cover. More slim and compact baits in heavy cover, and bigger baits with more movement in the more open stuff.

You guys did it well and my hat is off to you.  We tried just about everything we could think of, with very little success.  We worked our butts off right to the end, and pitched deep into cover, and cranked open water.  We worked the legs off of frogs, wore out some buzzbaits (small ones and large ones).  We fished every shoreline, pad fields, shoreline wood and offshore wood.  We fished rock piles and sunken stumps in the middle of nowhere.   We fished dirty water and even sought and found some clean water.

Every suicidal bass we stumbled on was pretty much caught in a different manner.  No pattern for us. We put every bite in the boat, and caught a couple that barely didn't measure (any one would have put us at the top on Saturday), but we didn't get the job done.

I admit that I stuck with too large of baits for much of the weekend (I have a hard time fishing for dinks in a lake known for bigguns) but we did give the small baits a chance and still didn't connect on green fish, though I got a nice yellow perch.

Despite knowing Silver Fake in August should be a night tourney, we still had confidence with each pitch we would get bit; we just didn't realize it would be in the azz!

Again, good job cause you guys really earned it!

ciao,
Marc Marcantonio

Thanks Marc, sounds like you gave them hell. Needless to say I don't think Silver Lake in August will be on the schedule again any time soon!!!
