The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

First of all lets start out with how many boats do you think are going to participate this year?

Secondly what are your guesses on the mystery weight this year?

Third how big do you think the big fish will be?

Fourth what weight do you think it will take to make the top 5, how about win?

Fifth how good do you think the fishing will be, fair, poor, or awesome?

1. 65 boats

2. Cutthroat and 2lbs

3. 5+ lb largie

4. 16+ to make top 5, 20lbs to win

5. fair due to all the pressure.

I think there will be 70 boats.

I think that the big weird fish will be a big rainbow or spawned out steelhead, and it will almost 4 pounds.

I think that big fish weight will be 5.65 pounds.

I think it will take 13 pounds to make the top 5 and 17 pounds to win.

I think the fishing will be on fire and will be alot of limits of fish caught. I think there will be alot of smallies caught with a few Largies mixed in, but most bags will be dominated by bigger smallies.

Are you attending and are you going to catch 20#'s? Largies or smallies for 20 pounds?

I believe there will be some quality green caught with the warmer weather and sun leading up to the tourney.

I believe it will be 5 green that takes the win.

although i could see a mixed bag with some green and big prespawn smallies win it.

NOTE: There is no "Wierd Fish" pot in this tournament. That is only for the winter tournament where I have the appropriate permit.

This tournament is bass only, 5 fish limit. Mystery weight will be determined day of, so bring in your fish no matter what.

1) 60 boats - complete guess...I have no clue!

2) Based on Jordan's response, mystery weight will be 2.03 lbs.

3) Big fish will be 5.5 lbs...someone will inevitably stick a nice largemouth.  It is impossible that this won't happen with 50 + boats spread out amongst Lake Sammamish in late April.

4) 19 lbs to win...10 lbs. to make the top 5.  I think there will be a large gap between first and 5th solely because of the number of boats on the water.  Someone is going to have some nice largemouth to weigh in.  It will happen!  But with that many boats on the water you can count on the fact that not everyone is going to catch the smallmouth well.  Therefore, I feel the top finisher will weigh in a big bag and after 3rd or 4th place the weights will drop off quick!  This is at least my opinion.

5)  I think the fishing will be fair overall.  There should be a decent smallmouth bite in the morning and largemouth bite in the afternoon based on the current weather forecast.  You can bet some guys will figure them out and catch them.  I honestly feel that because of pressure, the guys that can figure the largemouth out will be sitting pretty.  I don't feel this lake can produce limits of smallmouth for everyone in a 60 + boat tournament.  Just my opinion though, I could be way off base!

6)  My own question that I hope to have a few answers to in the near future.  Where the hell do the smallmouth spawn in this lake!?  Outside of a handful of areas, finding "obvious" spawning areas on Sammamish seems difficult!  Compared to lakes like Whatcom, Washington, Banks, and the Columbia River, it seems very difficult to me to look at a map of Sammamish and figure out obvious spawning areas outside of a few select areas.  I plan to make a trip out there in early June this year to look for beds all over the lake simply to hopefully learn a bit about how they spawn on this lake.  I think that would go a long ways towards figuring them out in April!  I could be way overthinking it though..This lake makes my brain hurt!! haha!

Parnicky- you are on track with your thinking, find where they spawn, and of course they will be really close during the pre-spawn.  Honestly though they spawn around the whole lake. Some areas are better for bigger fish than others during the spawn, but if you knew where they spawned you would have a great starting point.

Good luck, 20# on Lake Sammamish with 65 boats on the water is a tall order. I think somebody will have to find water that is not pressured to catch that.  During prefish I saw 8 boats working over the north end for largmouth.....It will be pounded in the tourney and after the 2nd boat runs the fish over they will be shut off.  Those fish get super spooky even with only a couple boats but put more than that up there and be prepared for a tough bite add in a nice sunny day...impossible.

I can see that happening Ron.

It was all just a fun guess.

I can too, I just don't want to have to catch 20#'s to win!
