Huge bags for banks! Looks like the draw down has done some good!

Paul and Jarrid did a great job to get such an impressive bag.  The weather conditions made it tough on the water with the 25 mph winds.  At one point it even hailed on us.

My partner and I did not prefish, so we tried to find the bass during the tournament, and with the strong winds we struggled to find where the fish were located.  This was not the best water conditions to be running around searching for fish.

Despite our lousy performance, for the first time I am excited for the future of Banks Lake.  The smallmouths were much fatter per inch than I can remember.  I expect we will see higher weights in future tournaments, and more separation in the weights between places.  I didn't see the largemouths that were weighed, so I don't know if they were as healthy and fat as the smallmouths, but suspect they were.  I know Ron and Mike had some largemouths, so maybe they can chime in on their condition.

The drive home was even more challenging than the tournament.  I made it back as far as exit 70 and then they closed the pass.  I had to backtrack 11 miles to Cle Ellum and get a hotel room for the night.  The snow made it difficult to see even the road, and cars were spinning out all over.  I am just thankful that I didn't wreck.

I was impressed with the weights as well.  The conditions were tough to navigate AND fish in.  I can honestly say that I had never fished in that rough of water before, but I was super impressed with how my new boat handled it all the way around.  Les and I only caught 7 or 8 fish and weighed 12 something, which was only good enough for 13th place, but all things considered, I will take it with no complaints.

I also noticed that the fish were fat and healthy.  I look forward to seeing what is to come on that lake in the future as well. I saw a few guys with the green ones and they seemed to be healthy as well, but I definitely could tell the difference in the Smallies from before.
