Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

I just want everyone to know that the Scholarship tournament at Banks Lake will be going on as usual.  The launch at Coulee Playland will be operational and it will be business as usual.  There have been no issues launching at Coulee we don't expect any.  The lake will be low but the fishing should be incredible.  You will just have to use common sense when running.

Tounament dates are October 1st & 2nd

Team Sign up is:

          5:30pm to 7:00pm, Friday

          6:30am to 8:00am, Saturday

Drivers meeting is at 8:30 with blast off at 9:00ish

Weigh-In times will be determined.

Has anyone been out to banks lately and seen how it's fishing first hand?
I can't believe it is going to be fishable in October. It was getting really low, really fast at the end of August.

The people that have been there have had no problems at all and the fishing has been great.  Fish stacked on the points.  I just talked to Lou at Coulee Playland and he said even the pleasure boaters were launching without issue and they have plenty of ramp left.

Some of you should remember the last time they drew the lake down for dam repair.  It was 17 or so years ago.  The ramp still worked then and the fishing was really good.

This is your chance to see a differant Banks Lake.

Good to hear.  Now I just need to talk my wife into letting me fish this one!

who does this tournament benefit in detail? what does the wsbf schedule look like for next year? it would be nice for a change to see two of the three tournies on the westside, since the vast majority of the anglers are westsiders.
From what I recall, the first one is late april on lake washington, the second is july on tri cities and the final is moses lake in august.
Thanks Jordan! It would make a heck of a lot of sense if they changed the August tourny to Sammamish. I shouldn't complain, because I didn't attend the March Federation meeting, but hopefully this can be addressed at the meeting this weekend. It also would be nice if the meeting minutes were posted online.

Jordan you are correct on the dates and lakes.

Chad these lakes were chosen by the board which is made up of your clubs representatives.  The lakes are always chosen early in the year so that we can work out any possible conflicts with ABA and Northwest Bass.  I believe that Debie Marchese has already submitted for those lakes on those dates and if she has it is really too late to change them until we see the schedule and see if there is an opening somewhere on the west side.  Heck, we even tried to move the meetings to the west side of the state but couldn't find a place where it would be reasonably priced.

And the meeting minutes from all of the meetings were on line.  I jsut went and checked and see that the links are all wrong.  I will work on getting that fixed.  But truthfully, looking at the minutes would still only show you what happened.  Being at the meetings and giving your input is how change happens.

As always I urge every member to come to the meetings in Ellensburg.  Give your input.  Share your ideas.  Afterall it is your Federation and you will only get out of it what you put in.

Gary,

Thanks for your involvement over the past several years with the WSBF! I sent my ideas with our club rep. to the March meeting in reference to two westside events. I simply think having two westside events would dramatically increase participation. The vast majority of participation comes from westsiders. Furtheremore, I believe a lot of interest in fishing the qualifiers comes from the low entry fee's. This gravitates a lot of younger anglers, newer anglers, and other anglers who are hesitant to fork out the higher cost entry fees of ABA or NWBASS to fish the qualifiers instead. In conjunction travel costs/ lake venues should be considered when selections occur. I for one have wanted to fish these events the last two years, but the schedule has been too eastside extreme. It's only my opinion, but I feel the WSBF would benefit by redirecting their focus. On the contrary, the Federation nation qualifiers are prodominantly over-run in participation with river runners, banks lake bass club, and other eastsiders. They keep the majority of their tournies on the eastside. I realize a lot of change is happening right now in the WSBF, and I look forward to the new involvement. I forsee a lot of positive happening.

This may warrant a new topic, but isn't the WSBF looking for volunteers to step up next year for most of the positions?

Sorry I took it off on a tangent. Yes they are looking to fill a few positions for next year. From what I've heard they have nominees for each position as well. Trust me, if I didn't have 3 young girls I would love to help out more! For now, I'll just be the guy with too many opinions...

Right on Chad. Any word on who those nominees might be? That would be something that should probably be out there for everyone to know so we can make sure some good people get in there
