its that time of year

all you guys that have been drop shotting giant smallies out of lake washington all winter, I am envy you, but its that time of year again to pick up your flipping/pitchin jigs and start hitting that cover. I know from several tough springs outings on Black Lake in Thurston County that once the water starts getting into the mid 50's, which I hear it is, it can get pretty awesome flipping jigs, I like the 3/8 oz heavy cover jig by jewel, which has a small profile, in either a peanut butter…

correction to my ouzo post

I mentioned in my post about ouzo baits that the owner of wave worms is now the owner of ouzo baits and I stand corrected, the owner of ouzo baits was the president of marketing for wave worms and as you all know was a very successful business. Anyone fishing the Silver Lake Open hosted by Rick Crawford and the Capitol City Bass Club, will get a brand new prototype bait that was a huge hit at this years classic. So check your bags they hand out before the tournament, inside might just be the…

ouzo baits

I just wanted to let everyone know when I was fishing the military tournment on the toho chain two weeks ago I picked up my first sponsor. Ouzo baits. They make some killer soft plastics. It is the same company owners that used to own wave worms, so if there is anyone out there that liked their product, you will like this as well. they have a new line of flipping craws, chunks and swimbaits with a small profile and also a great looking goby. If I know you and you send me your address and…

two tournaments two weeks

To all my friends I had to leave behind in washington, I miss you all.

I fished a tournament on Lake Seminole around the 14th of February and got a win as a non boater fishing a boater only tournament. Lake Seminole is located right on the florida georgia line and re nouned as a power house fishery for producing large stringers of large florida strain bass.

The water was cold 48f, dirtier due to all the recent rains, and really high. The fish pushed out of the river because the…

fisherman of men and women and kids...

I was throwing around the idea that we should have a wa fish member open tournament / bbq, anyone know of a good time or place we could kick off such an event? From what i can see you are all pretty cool guys and gals and I think if we could just kick it sometime with some chicken and ribs maybe some beverages, it could be a good time.

"these docks are off limits"...

I dont know if any of you have run into the disgruntled waterfront lake owner who claim that they own the dock and water beneath the dock out in front of their residence. I have as of late had some pretty angry homeowners tell that they own the water, around and under their dock and fishing it is prohibited. This happened to me on more then one occasion with more then one homeowner up on summit lake in olympia. I was dumbfounded, knowing quite well that you cant own the water, but the… Continue

this time of year

this time of year I find myself fishing one lure and one lure only looking for the big bite, a jig. to be more exact, I fish a jewel jig either peanut butter smoke or peanut butter and jelly with a jewel craw green pumpkin trailer. You have to order the baits directly off their website, or sometimes you can find them at cabellas. What are some favorites of others this time of year?

Another thing to add, why havent any of broken the washington state record yet for a largemouth? This is the… Continue

Clear water doesnt always equal flourocarbon

It might come as a shock to you and the fishing world, but just because the water is gin clear in most lakes this time of year, it doesnt neccessarily mean you have to use a flourocarbon or monofilament line. Now application of your lures, and what rods you are using will dictate if you will be fishing mono, but if you are going to be using anything heavier then 12 lbs test, you might as well just tie on some 65lb power pro. I feel the fish are less line weary due to it being early in the year… Continue
