I will keep this updated with pictures, will also be fishing elephant butte, that will be the closest lake. The wife has to go to school at Fort Bliss in El Paso.
Thanks
Joe
I know Fork and Rayburn better than the others....and there is a Lake near Fork called Tawakoni...that has some toads in it and it gets a lot less pressure.
All of the biggest fish I have caught at Fork were in February or March. Red Ratltraps or Spinnerbaits over weedbeds in 2 to 6 feet of water, Jerkbaits in gold shiner or black with silver bellies......Jig n Pig on the channel edges with stumps on em with drops into 12-14 feet of water ( black and blue ) Bridge pilings near the backs of creeks hold a lot of the staging fish and tx rigged lizards or senkos are good.
On the South end......The better fish usually come out of the coves on the north or west bank in Feb. and there are literally miles of stump fields and timber between the main lake and the back of the coves....and you will have to idle most of it to get there. I also fish Williams, Birch , and Mustang creeks.....in the very back of them....and working my way out. The fish in that picture above was caught in Little Mustang creek.
On the North end......the West bank all the way North is good...and there are some road beds on the maps that hold good fish....and I amean really shallow this early....look also for road beds near the bridge that crosses the Lake......that roadbed holds a lot of fish this time of year. Also in Mid Lake....Caney Creek is one of my favorite areas.....little bit of everything in there and there is (was ) a big mannequin on a tree to show you where the entrance to the channel was. Little Caney is good if the water is warm enough.
I personally go to Mustang Resort on the South end...because I have known the owners for 25 years or so...and they will not steer you wrong if you ask for a little direction.
Good Luck
Jeff
Thanks for the info Jeff.
Looks like I will be hitting Amistad this weekend, hopefully will have some pictures to post.
Joe
Just don't cross the border if you get on Falcon.
Mustang Resort is Cheaper.....and you don't have to worry about rashes as much.
( I was in Vegas for the Super Bowl weekend.....and Not EVERYTHING stays in Vegas )

Jeff said Mustang Resort; he meant Mustang Ranch.
I would hit Falcon if I were down there right now. Falcon has been out producing all the lakes in Texas this year. I changed my plans for when I go to Texas this year, I was gonna hit Choke Canyon, and Lake Austin( which are both good lakes), but from all the input i have gotten, and everything I have read, Falcon is the place to be.John, was going to hit Falcon, I still have a bunch of friends in the Army, Falcon is not really a place to be right now. The problem with Falcon they said is there are no patrols on it. Amistad has two border patrol boats constantly in the water and a ton more stationed at Del Rio. Not that I am afraid to hit Falcon but when I have friends I have known for 20 years say stay away from there I am going to follow their advice. If you get down this way and and want another boat on the water look me up.ThanksJoe
