Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

It's that time again to get ready for the Freeze your bASS blast, February 19, 2011 on Lake Sammamish. This is the 5th annual and we at Evergreen Bass club are looking forward to seeing all the regulars and a bunch of new faces this year. We had 38 boats last year and would like to see at least 40 this year.

We use these tournament proceeds to fund the take a Warrior fishing event we have held the last 2 years to help thank the enlisted men and women for all they do for all of us.

With a chance at $1000.00 for the biggest live Bass who wouldn't come out and have a good time?

We are planning on using the 3 fish limit again this year which has leveled the field out a little and made a limit more achievable for this time of year.

We are imposing an off limits period this year to give the fish some stability before the tournament.

The off limits period will start at 12:01 am Saturday February 12, 2011 and continue to be off limits until the tournament starts on Saturday February 19, 2011.

(Friday the 11th is the last day of prefish)

I know this will cause some grumbling but the fish will be much more apt to bite on tournament day.

We will have the rules and entry forms posted on our website later this week as well as a link here for the entry form for those that want to send it in sooner, the entry fee is still $125.00 plus $25.00 for big fish pot option if postmarked before February 8, 2011.

A $10.00 cash only late fee will be added on tournament day.

If anyone is interested in making donations to the raffle or towards the Warrior fishing event we would really appreciate the help.

I can be reached at 253-606-0518 or at Evergreenbassclub@comcast.net with any questions, Thanks again and hope to see you all out there.

Aaron,

I learned something on Saturday as well.

The second thing I learned is that saving a stranded boat can also take you from being in the money to out of the money. That is if the boat you picked up had a better bag than you and you end up first out of the money.

I heard that there was someone in the top three that had a mechanical breakdown and that Bess shuttled him in to weigh his fish. Since Bess was a nice guy, it ended up taking him out of the money. Can anyone confirm this?

I hope I didn't make it sound like I was trying to make excuses or trying to screw someone off their spot.  Neither could be further from the truth!  I will be the first to admit I sucked worse than anyone could possibly suck at the freeze! That's fine with me though, I had a blast anyways and tried as hard as I could all day without giving up for even a moment.  Can't do anymore than that! As far as mentioning where I started in the morning, I was simply trying to learn things that I could have done better that might have helped my cause, that is all.  I wasn't trying to screw anyone off their spot.  I was just trying to fish the edge of an area that was large enough for easily two boats in a tournament where the rules stated just to stay a reasonable casting distance away unless someone tells you to back off.  I was trying to be as curteous as possible.  I saw how they were working the area and stayed well off of it, making long casts just to the edge without getting in their way at all.  Nothing wrong with that!  I was simply trying to say that it might have been a better idea to scrap that area sooner though since I was staying too far back to thoroughly work any of the area.  I always try to fish areas my confidence lies in during tournaments and based on my boat draw and the fact there was only one boat there, I felt it was my best shot.  I was wrong, I am trying to learn how to make smarter decisions in tournaments and that is the only reason I brought it up.  Outside of that, the only way I could have done any better would be not sucking so bad!!  Sorry if you misinterpreted what I said.  Not my intention at all!  Everyone is super nice and helpful around here and as you get to know them you will realize there aren't hardly any bad eggs at all among the bass fishing community in the state of Washington.

Excuses? Or learning experiences? Thats why I asked aaron what he changed.
Aaron, what did you change? To pats credit, you did list excusses. What did you change to alter the outcome? Not trying to be a hard a$s on ya,but chalanging your above response may teach you something.
Pat, if your gonna call someone out, why don't you ask why people feel the need to mention how good they did in practice and did'nt even fish. Or the guy that said he spent too much time trying to screw another guy off his spot? Is that how you all do it out here?

David,

You are the last guy who would not "play by the rules" written or otherwise.  In fact, maybe you should be more aggressive when wanted to fish certain areas.  Just don't make the same mistake Sessler did last week that caused his DQ at Rooseveldt...  I heard he stuck his banana in someone's tailpipe

Sounds like Jon took the concept of screwing someone off their spot too literally!

It was getting hassled by some flying rats.

It seems the atmosphere of his 2nd FLW tournament got the best of him.  It was sad to hear what really happened...

Good one.  Go back to 5th grade and learn how to structure a sentence.

Didnt notice the bald eagle. I did notice the jackass in the mastercraft practicing double ups 100 yards off the launch.

Interesting ~~~~~~  It sounds like the mortality rate was pretty high.  Does anyone know how many dead fish were brought to the scales?  Either guys don't know how to care for their fish or this is a poor time of year to hold a tournament.  That being said, Santa strongly approves of this tournament though because it supports a very good cause.
