I have (had) an 86 merc 150 xr2. I think it broke a rod because the #6 piston won't move and there is debree in that hole. It really pitted up the combustion chamber in the head also. So, any good advice on how to get a rebuilt power head or anyone who has a newer (than 86) 150-175 for sale with controls, let me know. I all of a suddon am in the market. And I am not rich, so no brand new $10,000 motors right now. Or, if any of you lure manufacturers want to buy a new boat, wrap it, and send it my way... wink wink wink wink....

thanks man! I had a trolling motor sent up from Portland a few years ago. They sent it on AmTrak and it cost $25. FedEx would have been like $150?

Thanks for getting that stuff!

Aaron,
Sorry to hear that man. I'll keep my eye out for you.
Check with Tom at Toms outboards in Olympia. He may have something or I know he rebuilt a powerhead on a 200 for me for around 3500 bucks and turned it around in about a week.
Thats good info, I'll check into it. Thanks! It's funny because what make me the maddest is the fact that the fish where biting today! ;)

I wouldn't mind a few more ponies back there.

Hey Aaron sorry to here about the motor .You can always give Eric Simon a call,my motor s sick. But it is alot for shipping. His prices in my opinion are great because the motor that you get back is better than it was when it was new. And turn around is quick. Heres his number if your interested and let him know i told ya to call.760-440-9334
Aaron, you might try giving Dave Winnie a call at Sky Valley Marine in Monroe. He usually has several rebuilds. You can reach him at (360) 794-4116. Good luck!
Wouldn't be a bad idea to look at a XR6 if you can find one. They are bulletproof engines. Sorry to hear about your motor.
there is one for sale in Moses Lake for $4500. It's on craigslist. Anyone know the guy selling it? Its a long shaft 150.
For one I don't think you can put a long shaft on a bass boat. For two you can get a reman block from Merc for under 4500 and have it rebuilt then you will at least have a 1 year warranty. Just buying another old motor that could blow up in a week is probably the last thing you want to do. Give Eric a call and see if he will do yours. He doesnt typically do those types of motors but since things are slow he said hes been doing other things out side of the normal.

Definitely check with Tom at Tom's Outboard in Olympia like Mark suggested. Tom is the best outboard mechanic and rebuilder on the west coast, and he is also the most reasonable. (360)754-3882. It is worth at least a call to see what he suggests.

ciao,
Marc
