Attention all Lowrance HDS Owners: New Software Update 4.0
Lowrance released today a new free software update you will want to download and install if you own an HDS unit! This update has something for everyone.
HDS-5 and HDS-7 owners can now view three windows on one screen at the same time. StructureScan users with these units will really appreciate this!
I am thrilled that duplicate waypoints (same lat and long) will no longer be duplicated when you transfer waypoints from one unit to another! Now I can use my handheld to add waypoints to my existing library, and import them to my HDS units and not end up with duplicates of the entire library!
There are a ton of other new features with this update that I am looking forward to taking advantage of.
Hiding the soft key labels will also be cool (can program to time out after 15 seconds but come up simply by touching any soft key)!
Programming 6 favorite screens will be a time saver with one button access!
Chart selection popup is also handy for those using Navionics.
Having the icon choices pop up when adding a waypoint in StructureScan saves time and trouble also!
Now before prefishing for a tournament I can use a single specific Icon to designate spots to check out, and after practice I can simply delete them all at once by now deleting all of that type of icon. I will use this all the time. (If one spot pans out I will simply change that icon to one I use regularly, then delete the remainder).
Add to that improved shallow water performance, less sonar interference, choice for LSS-1 temp sensor, faster boot-up time, faster redraw capabilities, etc. and this 4.0 is a real winner!

Already updated my HDS-10 and HDS-8 and it went smoothly. It does take a lot of time to download the update since it is over 250 mb.
Really simple instructions for downloading to your computer and to your HDS.

There are two ways to do this; the easiest method is to press and hold down the exit button and they will disappear. To turn them back on press any soft key once.
