Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Just got home from the ABA champisonship on the Columbia River at Tri-Cities. The tournament was a two day combined weight format on Friday and Saturday. Saturday's weigh in was the most exciting one I've seen yet, especially given that there was a boat on the line. Here's a quick recap:

Mark Marcantonio and Mike Matkowski: In 2nd place after day with with 17+lbs, weighed 15+lbs for a two day total of just over 32lbs.

Michael Gibney: Day one leader with 17+lbs came in with just over 16lbs for a two day total of 33lbs.

Shawn McConville and Ron Mace: Weighed 15.5 lbs day 1 and came in with 18.5lbs on day 2 for a total of 34.09lbs. - At this point most thought they had locked it up until....

Don Hogue and Ryan Brown come to the scales with a full bag. They only had 13.5lbs day one, but rumor has it they have over 20lbs today. They weigh big fish, it's about 4.8lbs, then the rest of the fish hit the scales. Total weight... 22+lbs for a two day total of over 35lbs!!!

Congrats to Don and Ryan, great job and what a turnaround!!!

Damn !!  That sure sounds exciting, especially since you know most of the competitors personally.  Sounds like some great fishing down there.  Congrats to all that did well.
What's more suprising to me is that Ryan and Don only got 13.5 on day one! Those guys getting a 22 lb bag at Tri Cities isn't suprising at all to me. Those boys can stick 'em. Sounds like everyone had a good second day. Good job fellas!
Congrats Don!
Congrats Don and Ryan!! Awesome job!! What an amazing second day!!

Congrats to Don and Ryan for an amazing comeback! Those guys have definantly paid their dues on that body of water. It's been a heck of a long run for Washington anglers winnings the championship, going back as far as I can remember. The fishing was pretty good this year for numbers in the afternoon, we just couldn't get any kickers in the morning. It was hot as hell, flat calm, and hardly any current all weekend. We forgot how good those fish pull over there. A few times we thought we had toads on, they ended up being 2.5's.

Congratulations Don and Ryan; awesome comeback!

ciao,
Marc Marcantonio

P.S.  Thanks to the guys who didn't enter the Biggest Bass option on the first day so our second biggest bass won the option money!  Same with several of the other options.  We won the most cash despite dropping down to 4th place.

Congrats to Don and Ryan......Always great to see fellow home town guys win.  Now to see if Don and Ray can win the NW ...Go get em Boys !
