So any guesses on who the favorite is going into this one? Seems pretty wide open since there's not much to go off and it doesn't sounds like guys have spent much time out there in March overall. Here's a few favorites I would throw out there:

  • Lowe/Librande - These guys are freakin' tough out here in the winter and with the cold weather and inconsistent weather patterns their slow methodical style makes them my guess at the winner.
  • Hobbs - Always tough on lake washington
  • Maderos/Maglio - I know Mark has done his homework here in the winter and also does well in the fall open, maybe a combination of these two could pay off
  • Simon/Simon - I remember a few years ago these guys pulled off a day 2 W in an early aba tournament on lake washington with tough conditions, could pull something out again.

Anyone else have any predictions?

You might wish the tournament was still at Sammamish when it is over cause I'm betting on the Hobb's gang for sure, but only because I can't fish the tourney.

ciao,

Marc

Here are my top 5 teams, to win this event, I think these 5 teams will all finish high with one of them being at the top.

In no certain order:

Hobbs/Hobbs (wouldnt be fishing if I didn't think I could win)

Deuce and Berto (seems to me Jordan is always catching 17 pounds in all his early club tournies)

Lowe and Librande (Probably my #1 favorite to win this event, they fish stupid slow, and fish big fish water only)

Maderos and Maglio (Plain and simple Maderos has probably more time in cold water situations on Lake Washington then just about any two of the other 4 teams mentioned)

Simon and Simon ( How are you going to bet against these two on Lake Washington, methodical on their approach to the lake, like to sit and be patient, it is what these tourney could be about, also have a number of tourney's on this lake)

I really think that this tournament is going to come down to who can catch a limit of fish.  I am going to say that only 4 limits will be weighed at most, and the top weight is most likely gonna be high 15's or low 16's, but wouldn't be suprised if the winner has 17.5 and will die of a heart attack if it is 20. I think the team that wins will win by over a pound.

Agreed Ron. I think it is going to fish a lot like it does in the winter and the guys that can SLOW down are going to do good, especially if the weather stays like it has been.

I would definitely add Jaymee Straughsbaugh in the mix for top contenders. Out of the last 3 years Hawg Hunters tournaments (Lake Sammamish open/Mickelson Open), Jaymee has won 4 out of 6 of them.

And speaking of Mark " the Situation", I spent Sunday out on the lake and didn't get a bite.  Now mind you I fished all new water that I haven't looked at in the last 2 to 3 yrs  and reaffirmed why I haven't hit it in such a long time!!!  Went out the week before with Mag's and Carlos and had a decent day, 4 fish, about 8 bites total.  I will be fishing with the 3rd half of team pork and cheese, Carlos Trujillo.  aka Little Joker.  If the weather stabilizes I predict a big bag to win.  17 to 18lbs  there will also be a couple of limits brought in the 12-14 lb range and alot of 1 to 3 fish bags.  The tough part of this time of the year is that we found them from 22ft to 48ft and everwhere in between.  I for one won't be fishing slow, I plan on covering LOTS of water.

Mark

My teams

Me and Little Joker

Labrande / Lowe

Deuce / Berto

Mystery team that is too dumb to realize that they needed to fish deep and spend day throwing jerkbaits and rattle traps and just kill them

Aaron,

So according to the rules rev-rigging, and trolling is o.k???

Good catch. No, that will have to be mentioned at the drivers meeting.
