High pressure (barometric) + sun + fishing pressure = almost always tough bite this time of year.

I'm glad I aint the only one who has allready figured that out. If you don't have 5 by 9am you might as well go largemouth fishing...

Congrats to Chris and Daniel for taking the win yesterday, sounds like it was a tough day.
I know the north wind really shuts that lake down and takes all the fun out of it, good job guys.

Well, only 17 boats so looks like the lake change didn't make much of a difference. Most people's pic's to win or place well didn't really play out.

Congrats to Chris and Daniel. It was a tough day on the water for most. No limits weighed. Still had fun fishing and always learning...

Thanks to the Puyallup Hawg Hunters for putting on the event as well (regardless of which lake).

Results will probably be posted soon here...

Results are posted guys ...

Hey tell ya what guys , The bite wasnt exactly hot by any means however i still enjoyed getting out early in the season and giving the opportunity to put a fish in the live well for the first time of year, sweet :)

Big Thanks to The HawgHunters for putting on a fun event  , well ran imho and the raffle items were awesome ..  Nice work Aaron

So with the low turnout and tough fishing is the game plan to go back to Sammamish next year? Personally I'd like to see it go back.

In all fairness Jordy the lake did fish well leading up too the event for some . As a matter of fact the pre fish action had a few guys thinking that it would take 14+lbs for winning bags  .

Hobbs mentioned prior too the event that High pressure + sun would equal a tuff bite on tourney day and yes that held true .

As with any tourney on any lake these are things that we have no control over and therfore we can only hope for the best .

Im still in favor of lake washington for next year that lake can give up some great bags early season and there is plenty of room for everyone to fish there own spots imho .

As for the turn out for this event , yes it was slighty higher than the  lk sammy event last year which only produced 14 boats ..

Can we truly say its best to scrap lk washington for 2013 based on this one event ? Keep in mind that no other club has ever put on an event this early in the season on lake washington so there is no historical data to compare notes too is basicly all im saying bro :)

The tournout was better than in 2011, so why would they go back? I know it's a shame that people have to figure out a new lake. Although the fishing sucked, it was nice not having to fish on top of one another. I think every tournament should be on Washington!

I would have been there had I been in town, regardless of whether it was at Lake Washington or Sammamish.  I like either one, and the earlier in the year the better!

ciao,

I think in the future you will see just as tough fishing, especially if we get warmer water leading up to the tourney, the bite is and has always been tough as soon as those fish leave the wintering areas, I contribute this to the fish migrating toward there spawing areas. Inherently this will make the fish tougher to find on Lake Washington, versus Sammamish.  The fish on sammamish just swim up the break line to the shore, and spawn, where as the fish in Lake Washington seem to migrate..... think the union bay to lake union, newport, yarrow bay and the 2 others, those fish don't winter in those areas they move there.

After saying this I still think you should have it on Washington, I think if the tournament ever produces more than 3 limits would be suprising, my guesses where based on average Washington weather when the bite is best, If there are more limits than that then the lake is on fire.  The other thing is I think that their will be runaway weights in the future where 1 team will beat everyone else by atleast 4 pounds, but I really see the top 2 or maybe 3 teams having close weights everyone dramatically less.

My guess for next year, 14 boats, 15# limit to win, 2 limits weighed, average 1.1 fish per boat.

I have never had a problem of finding a spot to fish at Lake Sammamish.  Yes there have been guys fishing areas that I want to fish, but that is tournament fishing, it happens everywhere, it doesn't matter what level you are fishing, FLW Cup, FLW Series, Everstart Series, Federation, NW Bass, ABA, and it doesn't matter what body of water, Lanier, Delta, Havasu, Clear, Roosevelt, Washington, Banks, Columbia, Wylie, Falcon, Mead. I just named a few I have been to and it is no different, really the overcrowded excuse is just that an excuse. It will happen anywhere if you are fishing tournaments, if you don't like it maybe tournament fishing isn't for you. IMHO

Of course it fished well Dez, all the lakes do when there isn't a tournament, you can ask anyone who didn't do so hot in the tournament.  BTW Wolsky would've kicked all our butts if he was allowed to trailer his boat to Washington from Sammamish, the fishing was off the hook!  Oh he also said there were about 20 guys boats on the water fishing!!
