buying a used fish finder??
Looking for some opinions on buying a used fish finder. Im looking at picking up a used Humminbird 797 c2 SI anyone out there have any experience with this model??? are they worth the money or is it worth it to buy a more recent model and spend more? Also how many hours of use is too many??? Any info is helpful, Thanks!

I own this model of Humminbird. I got it about 3 years ago from a good friend who used it for a season on his Triton. I have had nothing but good experiences with this unit. I have a lot of hours on mine! It gets used pretty hard. Up until a month ago it was my primary unit that I had on the dash of my boat, but I liked the SI and features so much I upgraded to a 997 SI unit for the dash and moved the 797 up to the trolling motor! I am a fan of Humminbird because I am a simple kind of guy and they are a bit more user friendly as compared to the Lowrance IMO. The only drawback is the screen is small of Side Imaging, but it is better than no SI!

Yes I have updated my software so now that unit does down imaging as well. There is 1 slot for an SD card so you can update it that way and it can run a Nav chip.
