Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Good read on boat position...here's a little blip..."Have you ever wondered how two anglers who fish whats seems to be the same spot with the same bait have drastically different results? One key factor to consider is boat positioning"

http://bigbassdreams.com/standard/proper-boat-positioning/

Would love to hear what Ron, Houge, Marc, Tag, Grafe, Ferry, Jordan, etc have to say about this topic

Tag I'm curious as to what the sun angle was. Was the sun in front of you behind you , to the side ??? where would the sun be in your diagram?  really cool diagram by the way.

Amazing post, Don.  Thank you for sharing!  You are truly a wealth of knowledge.

You brought up a great point about the stealth aspect, relating it closely to hunting.  Below is a rudimentary diagram of I how set up the boat for my cast last Saturday afternoon when I caught a 10.80# largemouth from a new body of water.  I was using the pads as camouflage and I also felt this was going to be the best angle to present my lure based on the wind direction, sun angle, area layout, etc.  I had my trolling motor preset on 100 so if/when I got bit, I could tear through the pads quickly to net the fish in open water.  It ended up working out.

Great article - cool thing is I learned more, and am more impressed with the knowledge and responses from all of you on wafish.  Thanks to all that posted!

Hey Daniel, the sun was essentially behind me.

A ton of great information ... thanks all for sharing your knowledge.

Joel,as you and I talked about at Cascade.I find when it's tough that fishing uphill is always a good alternative to try.I have had it work on several occasions.Boat position always plays a part in that senario. Also for the guys in small boats. As you know, fishing into the wind is usually optimal.

Great posts all together gentlemen. nice read!
Don your the man...this really hit home..."I typically have very small 10-30 yard areas that I've deemed as kill zones. I don't think you can move around much in and around these areas. You've got to put the boat in an exact spot and make exact casts. It's better to leave and come back than to stumble around it with the boat". I've recently started reading Bill Semintels book and been focusing on the one cast approach...you just expanded this concept to tourney fishing for me...thanks:-)
