G. Loomis Classic Popping-PR844S (GL3).....these rods get the job done for all purpose and for $175.00-$200.00 I don't think you can go wrong
Joel ,
Take a look at the Dobyns 702 Fury Series Rod . The Best bang for your buck in the market HANDS DOWN !!
G-Loomis GLX902 or as Tag said, get ahold of Jake and have a custom Alpha Angler rod made. Can't go wrong with either option.
I had Jake Boomer (Alpha Angler) design a custom fluke rod for me and it is the real deal. Like Tag mentioned, it will work for many different techniques and is meant to tangle with big SM.
Are you guys throwing flukes on a spinning rod? I have been using the 893NRX and love it. It may be personal preference, but I feel like I have a whole lot more control over the fish during the battle, and don't seem to suffer any loss of casting distance running braid to flouro.
Don, what are the specs of the rod you had Jake build you?
I can see with the extra length and a tip section that loads up a little more on the cast why that would make a difference in distance. Like you said Tag, I'm not much for a spinning rod when I can get way with a baitcaster, but if there was a spinning rod I could get down with it's probably that one from the sounds of it!
