What do you guys normally charge your backseaters for a two day tournament?

50%?
25%?

Of all costs associated with team tournaments.

Lets hear it guys.

Why would they pay if you if you are along for the ride?

I backseat frequently. Sometimes they pay me....sometimes i pay them. It is not a one way street like you might think.
I have probably won close to $900 this year.

I'm with you and Ron on this to Josh.

I think most are taking about their club tournaments, because i have yet to find a draw tournament here in Washington other then on a club level....... And who cares about fishing club tournament. What are you going to win $20 for big fish "WOW"

Just my opinion =)

I think tournament expenses should be shared but as far as taking a friend fishing....I fall more into Ron's camp. I am going to fish as many days in a week as I think I can without ruining my business or my marriage so I don't really care if somone chips in or not. I was going to spend that money anyway and for any of you who have spent a day in a boat with me, I'm not certain who should be paying who.
I am with Ron on this; your partner is not your backseater, and therefore things should naturally be pretty 50/50, or whatever you guys decide to work out as a team. I caution you to not get caught up in the pennies, it ruins the moral!
Simple.....split all costs (entry, boat gas, truck gas, campground or motel) 50-50 and split all winnings 50-50 - no matter who catches fish - INCLUDING big fish money.
Don't haggle/worry over $10 here and there. Make sure both guys are comfortable running each others equip. (truck, boat, electronics). Front of boat, back of boat should just be a matter of conditions/comfort....not who's the "driver" and who's the "backseater".
If it's a "draw" tournament, I don't charge them anything. They will pay what they feel comfortable paying, and it's almost always too much!
I must have been sleepy or I'm just not that sharpe to begin with. If the original post was referring to team tournaments then the answer is simple 50/50 in whatever manner you wish.
You are a team not individuals.

I have only fished a draw tournament once. I was the co-angler and I offered to pay whatever the pro felt acceptable. The first guy wanted half, no problem. The second guy wanted $20, no problem. The 3rd guy made his first FLW top ten and was so excited he walked off while I was unloading my gear and I couldn't find him. I called him later that night to settle up and he didn't want any money but was very thankful for me making the attempt. I think most of the decision depends on how you value your personal reputation. Mine is important to me.
It is?

I told you Potter isn't a good speller.

How can a guy who fishes with Jeff Grimes claim his reputation is important to him?
And who spells "sharp" with an "e" on the end of it? Is that the Canadian spelling or is he talking about the pen?
