... if it were brought to the Seattle area?

Mike Iaconelli and Pete Gluszek's new roving 2-day education tour is in Sacramento this weekend, and I'm wondering if the Seattle bass crowd is strong enough to support a stopover in TBU's schedule. Cities on the schedule (Philadelphia, Dallas, Sactown, Nashville) are no-brainers, but are there enough guys/gals in Seattle who aren't 150% immersed in the Westside salmon/steelhead culture to put Seattle into consideration?

Salmon U. and Steelhead U. have been very successful for several years at $150 and $98 a pop, respectively, but are there enough Pugetropolis bassers who'd pony up $200 for a two-day course like Ike and Gluszek have created? TBU's instructors include: Ike, Gluszek, Greg Hackney, Ish Monroe, Velvick, Dobyns, Gerald Swindle, etc. From what I understand, it's a two-day intensive seminar "for advanced students with experience and knowledge of the industry, bass fishing and the art of finesse".

I like the idea, and having been around some of these guys a little, I have no doubt it'd be an exceptionally professional seminar. HOWEVER, having also been "behind the curtain" on bass and seminar events in Seattle (anyone remember the old Big Bass Blast?), I wonder if we could get 100 people.

What do you guys think?

Another question to ponder:
Would the guys support a Northwest Bass University taught by local pro's focusing on local waters? I know that there have been several past posts that danced around this subject. I also know that there is a team of guys working on the concept as we speak. Your thoughts?

I agree Gary. I would pick up alot more information from guys like Echternkamp, and Jr. than I would from Ike. I know there has been some talk about this. questprotackle, nw bass, and others should work on making this happen. what do you think about that Gary.

I would go for sure heck i'm willing to fly to Sac to go, Seattle is a lot more convenient. If you are worried about the $200 I will remind you guys that you will be learning from the pros. I don’t know about you but I would be more excited about meeting Mike Iaconelli then the Queen of England.
I attended the one they had up here, seems like about 10 yrs ago or so! The speakers were great! Mark Davis, Ken Cook, Bobby Barrack, Gary Dobyns and Skeet Reese (who was still a relative unknown at the time) gave great presentations, and then made themselves available afterwards for more questions. It was a cool deal, and I'd definitely do it again; but I'd also love to see something put on by the local pro's, and might even be willing to pay more for that!
Hell I'm up for anything once, but would prefer the local guys do one. If the word is put out I can't see why getting 100 people would be a problem. The cost is reasonable compared to what we spend on tackle and everything else.
I know I would like to attend a Bass University and being able to avoid the additional costs of flying and hotels would be nice. So I say yes to a Seattle area class. Also, I think the idea of some of the local pros putting on a seminar would be great. Learning from guys that have actual working knowledge of the lakes in our state and the techniques that they use would probably be more informativet than learning from guys who don't fish here.
Who's the Queen of England? :-)

I'd go if I had the money.

I hear ya Kevin , And for the record im a fan of Mike also but here is my beef ! He was been out here to fish our lakes twice and has yet to get anything going (blanked) . I would rather pay to hear Ron H , Marc M, Aaron E, Tony L , Tag W, etc talk about our lakes over Mike "any day of the week" .. And to be frank with ya , i honestly believe that deep down inside Mike wouldn't mind be part of the audience himself ..lol .. Just my 2 copperheads on the matter !!

I agree with this as well. I think I would be better served sitting in and listening to local pros and experts talk about what work and doesnt here from the experience they already have. I am a huge Ike fan but in the end I dont think he would acutally help me improve my fishing in our lakes as quickly as the local legends would.

Dez, here is what you are forgetting; there is a lot more to becoming a pro bass fisherman than catching fish on Lake Washington. These guys have taken something everyone reading this form dreams about and have done it. They get paid to Fish! not only that they get paid a lot of money to do it. I for one have a lot to learn about the fishing business and believe these pros are able to teach me. If you want some tips from Tag just ask him he is a friendly guy and would probably give you advice for free. If you want to get paid $40,000 to wear a hat for 5 minutes at a weigh in I suggest you start taking notes from Iaconelli.

Your comment does make me curious as to who would win in a tournament between Tag W, and some of these guys we watch on TV. Maybe we should call up Versus channel and arrange something. I would throw in a few bucks to make it happen. It could be like “Pros versus Joes” but for bass fishing.
Well the only time I've seen Mike Ic. on tv fishing here on Lake Washington he wasn't fishing with a Bass fisheman, only a salmon fisherman who said he didn't know a thing about Bass. If a real Bass fisherman in Washington had been with Mike Ic., then Mike Ic. could have caught fish because the local Bass fisherman could have put him on fish. Also Mike Ic. should have been able to find fish anyway unless he was just depending on the salmon fisheman to put him on a good spot and not hunting/looking around on his own. But then he was on a limited time schedual so I'm thinking Mike Ic. was depending on that salmon fisherman to put him on bass to save time. Therefore they had a nonproductive day, for salmon as well as for Bass. I'd not even heard that he was out here twice. But still, I'd rather listen and learn from local anglers who would know the local tricks. The national people would still be interesting and have good info.

if you only new the whole story tom !! lol and yes he was in the boat with a local on both washington and sammy ! Im not hating on his bassfishing skillset at all , just saying i dont believe he could teach us locals more info about washington lake than we already know .. now if dude had a house on lake and spent more time out here .. Different ball game ! hell if had to fish on his home lake im sure that he could show anyone how to get a good limit of bass ..
