Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Hey guys im planning on fishing Goodwin this weekend and was wondering if there was anyone that could throw some tips on some of the productive rigs. I know there are smallies so is it a drop shot, crank, shakeyhead and jig type of lake. What else works well out there?

Thanks

Austin

You'll find alot of fish in post spawn/ summer pattern now. You can't go wrong with a dropshot fished on some of the ledges adjacent to spawning areas, I have done well on football heads and carolina rigs there as well. Also, topwater will probably be a good bet in the am.

Good luck
what works better for topwater there buzzbaits or spooks. I was hoping to find them in summer patterns. Thanks for the tips
Smaller Swimbaits 4 to 5 inch around the docks and rocks.
Was just there today...shallow bie was almost nonexistant except for one smallie about 2-3 pounds. I will be back sometime this week with a c-rig for sure
I forgot to mention that I saw tons of fry under and around many docks...even near the State Park boat launch. They have definitely spawned
Sounds like fry guarders to me!

how do you guys fish the fry
i have found many on my local lakes and throw at em but cant get any bites
Hey Austin ,
dont throw at the ball of fry , but instead put your bait next too all the surrounding structure ,ie rocks , logs , pads ..there is a bass around there somewhere, trust me on that :-) ..We caught some good smallies on moses about two weeks ago doing just that ..
Dez is absolutely right that bass wont be in or on the fry it will be guarding the surrounding area where those fry are relating.
