This is not good for anglers/consumers. Less competition is never good for the consumer. You can figure that it will reduce sponsorship dollars across the various circuits, obviously broader than just the national circuits. Expect gradual impacts to pricing, product and dealerships. These moves are primarily only smart/good for the company.

Zach,

On Monday last week I just happened to be speaking with a dealer on the east coast and he had mentioned to me that Platinum was in talks with Triton on the sale of their company. He had mentioned other things as well but cant really speak about them on this site without possibly ruffling feathers.

You will be seeing info on this all over the web reall soon.

Sponsorship is not and will not be what it was before the recession. The fact that Platinum Equity has purchased Triton just shows how much Brunswick and the boating market in general has been hurt by the economy. Maybe they will move Triton to the Ranger plant to cut costs.

All I know is that I love my Ranger and who knows, Ranger's and Triton's might soon be in the same shop! Of course that depends on which rumor you listen to!
