Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

The weather is shaping up for a good swimbait bite tomorrow!  At least it appears that way.  Maybe we could get a small group of people together and have everyone throw 5 bucks into a big fish pot.  Biggest fish takes all.  Anyone interested?  If not, I will be on the water by myself from 5 AM until probably mid afternoon tomorrow.  I hope to see some of you on the water!

Fishing Contests
A fishing contest is defined as any event where six or more licensed anglers (age 15 and older) fish competitively for game fish and determine winners, regardless of the prize value. A permit is required by the department and the fee is $24.00 per permit (no more than seven permits will be issued to any one permittee during the calendar year). Applications for fishing contest permits may be submitted at any time of the year, but they must be received by the department no less than 30 days prior to the start date of the proposed contest.

A good fish-in is where ya team up with boaters and non-boaters and fish with someone that you usaully don't fish with, then all get to gether a set time for a shore lunch and share what ya learned worked or didn't work thus making everyone envolved a better fisherman. Better fishermen make for better contests.
man i would love to but spanaway is callin
Thanks for the contest clarification Rodney! I definately wasn't looking to have a contest so it is nice to know exactly what defines a contest. I was more interested in seeing if anyone was interested in hitting the lake tomorrow. I was thinking it would be a good day for swimbaits so maybe having a "swimbait only" fish in where everyone just throws swimbaits all day and then compares notes at the end would be a good way too learn more. I am not concerned about putting any money on it. I just wanted to think of some fun way to get a few people to come out and hit the lake tomorrow. It sounds like you have some good ideas.

Ive narrowed this down to two lures and I hope it isn't the one that is never in stock whenever I try to get it. I found something similar that looks like a good bait but it just doesnt have the action!

Rodney I decided to go up to Whatcom late Saturday for the evening bite and I couldn't get near the water. I have never seen so many boats on that lake at one time. The field next to the parking lot was full and you couldn't get another boat trailor in it. So I just left and stopped at a friends house and drank beer. So I'm going to hit it this Friday morning. Anyway did you catch the big one?
It has been quite a few years sense I have last been up to fish Lake Whatcom. I would really like to get up there again for a good fish-in. The only 2 times I have fished the lake was during 2 small club tourneys prior to me becoming a member of Western Bass Club. During these summer months the lakes do fill up with pleasure boaters and partiers. Wouldn't it be great it if all us fishermen didn't have to work the week days when there is no body at the lakes?

I'm really interested in how your day turned out on Whatcom. I'll be there in two weeks time for a couple days and really hope to boat a couple smallies. Let me know how it went!
