Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

It's good to see Gene Batey on the site. i know who he is but he doesn't know me, but as a fellow tri-cities guy i would like to hear Gene's and other east siders thoughts on somethng that gripes me to no end.
that is the coasties poaching our spots after we have worked week in and week out to develop and learn them.
I can't tell you how many times i've had a coastie pull up right where I'm fishng and act as if he "discovered" the spot on his own.

Pat......PROVE IT!
For one how do you know which side of the mountains they are from, its not like all westsiders walk around with starbucks cups and birkenstocks. Do 'coasties' have a sign on their forehead saying "hello Pat, You've never heard of Marcantonio, but you should know I live on the westside of the state"......that would be one big sign! Nobody knows you, so how do you know everybody and where they live?

You know what I am tired of is the Eastsiders stealing our westsiders techniques! We Fished with the drop shot 1st we also had senkos before you guys did and football heads, all the best worms come from the westside of the mountain. Jeff Boyer (Kent Bassmasters) and Franco Stone west siders, where the first two to have real flipping sticks (fenwick if I remember) in our state so you copied coasties on that too. Pretty much we get it, we perfect it, then you steal it! I have to give the river rats credit though they sure know how to drag the shit out of a carolina rig!

Out of all seriousness though, Pat you are a jack ass..... you don't know what you are talking about and you have no facts or evidence to back up any of your claims, there is no saying if the guy that fishes next to is from Spokane or Snohomish, Unless someone has hardcore evidence of someone stealing another persons waypoints out of their GPS then it can't be poached.

Last time I looked it is Public Water, you don't own it, so don't lay claim that it is "YOUR" spot. Nobody wants your spots anyway they must really suck you have no pictures holding any fish.
Ron, who are you to talk to Bass Pro Pat that way? For god sakes, the guy test baits! He is a bait tester! You, like everyone else, needs to put down your double shot vente mocha and back down and listen to what the guy has to say, we can all learn a thing or two from the guy. For real, he has an Aaron Martens video!

This Pat guy is really pissing me off. You are one of those cowards that talk a lot of sh** because, you can hide your face behind the computer screen. Pat, you are a bitch who has no respect for nobody, including yourself. Grow up man. You are giving this site a bad rep. I would like to see your face so, I can catch you on the water and teach you a real lesson, the old school way.
Its pretty bad when you have someone run within eyecontact and you watch them push that magic little button, and its really bad when you can even here it.If you ever wonder why the same people are always in the money its becuase they find fish where ever they go.They know how to read water and a graph. And no,its not the coasties or the easties, its just a poacher. And they know who they are.The poachers that do what they do will never make it as a true Bass fisherman. What ever happened to sportsman like conduct.I remember the days when you pulled up and someone was on a spot you just went and found where nobody was fishing. Now days they just crowd in.They don,t get that nobody there is going to win.Its getting to be a joke.Or when you catch a fish and the next thing you know there are five boats around you. These guys are poachers to.

But I think I got you on the Senko ,I even had a Fenwick.I am getting pretty old.Ha Ha
It's to bad that this discuession even got started......no one should've even responded to it because it was a "baited" topic intended to p@## off people and get a response.....lol I have to laugh though and throw in my 2 cents......Every secret spot I have on the Columbia River is about 50 other guys secret spot too.....I believe someone already mentioned it but it's called "fishing" for a reason and if one spots going to make or break your day find a new hobby....

What I really hate is when Oregonians come up and fish my side of the river, dirty rotten "poachers", lol......pathetically immature guys
Hmmmm This Pat guy sure reminds me of a Coastie that was ran off of this site last year. I'm sure you all remember who I'm talking about.....
Wow, I thought we were a little more civalized than this on the East side, yes it is frustrating when someone is on a spot you think you found, but you have backup spots, but to label them "coasties" is pretty low, I think if you look closer it's your fellow Eastsider. I live in the Eastside when that happens I figure they did their homework also or they just beat me there, not all of us think like that.
Pat, I get you...being an anonymous hermaphrodite not only has the usual meaning for you but also means you can be all things on this site. Need to be from the Tri Cities to stir the pot? Poof!! Your there. Need to be ignorant and question who's who so guys will have to bare their souls. Poof! You the man/woman. Need to drop Batey's name in your post to start an epic troll. Poof! Things are pretty dry when we use our own names and can't switch locations, buddies, or even sexual organs when we post.
Yet, you've inspired me to be more honest and speak my mind so here goes...

Yeah "poachers" are irritating as long as you let them be. Remember, everyone is a poacher to someone who is already fishing there or fished it last week or even last year. Here's a few helpful rules of thumb for you to keep your sanity out on the water.
1. Your spot isn't really that good. Get over yourself. When you do have it all to yourself and still suck while somebody else sticks 'em will you still blame it on the poachers?
2. Your spot will change. Often. Get used to it. You better be able to adapt. If you were homeschooled and didn't get any Darwin in your education then add it to your social inadequecies as an excuse for your failures.
3. If you sit on a spot often, understand you are doing two things: Educating the bass and letting everyone else know that you think you've found the motherlode. Don't sit on a spot unless you intend to do both...which can be useful.
4. If you are after smallmouth, especially on the river, and feel like you've got some pets under the boat prepared to be disappointed. Those smallmouth will move around and migrate just like a salmonoid. So when you don't catch your pet smallie and blame it on some other guy who spied your spot and caught him first, understand what is really going on.
5. If you think fishing is about finding honey holes you will also encounter a fishing life full of frustration. Fish care little for geography in the same way you or I do. A good looking rock or stump to you means nothing to a bass. Unless of course it helps them eat or make babies - and then its not really about the rock or stump you are fixated on.

Anyway that's enough for now. Thanks "Pat" for the inspiration. Seriously.
Is there an initiation fee?

I say we start a "Coastie" gang! We can call it DA WESTSIDE POACHEE KILLAS! We will take over the westside and run the PATTY CAKE LOKOS outta town! WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was just messing with Batey. I wanted to see if I could get you guys going a little! I have much respect for you, to me you are one of the Elite Washington Anglers.

The GPS guys and the crowders are everywhere these days FLW guys are famous for this, they can be real A Holes. Its sucks that the Local Tournaments have to turn into this as well, but I still don't think it compares. The worst problem is, is that it is usually the guys that are mediocre at best that are doing this. To a point you are going to get some of this behavior and it will never stop, that is why I think you are better off controlling what you can control, and that is figuring out how to catch fish better and make quick adjustments accordingly. The other thing is to work harder on finding new areas with less pressure. The problem is that popular areas are going to have alot of boats if you find a particular sweet spot in this area (which could be 1000 acres) the chances are that people are going to be fishing close enough to you to see what you are doing. It is more important now than ever not to just dial in your spots but to dial in your technique to make the most out of every single cast.

You can't control the poachers, even though it is frustrating, you have to work hard to control what you can, technique, presentation, and adjusting.

I don't want to say it is ok to poach because I am totally against it, and I think it is low, and to keep respect and gain respect from others is way more important to me then to cash a minimal check.
