Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

So today while I was at work I snuck over to Lk Terrell for a quick minute just walking around the boat launch. The whole time I was there I was wishin I had a rod and reel with me. Plus the sun was shinning and it was kinda warm. Can't wait till spring to get my line wet. BTW I saw a white pick up truck with a boat trailer in the parking lot. Any members go out there today?

They were probably duck hunting
As far as I can tell, boats aren't allowed on the lake until Feb 1.  The rule book doesn't give an exact date (at least mine doesn't), it just says "after waterfowl season ends." I checked the Washington State waterfowl regs, which says the season ends January 31.  But I know what you mean.  I could be talked into spending some time on Samish this weekend--or sooner.
You can catch fish NOW!  Why does everyone think that the fish don't eat in the winter?  I can tell you guys one thing and that is........ You can't catch anything by just wishing and thinking about it, you just have to go do it.
Just Do it

I am headed out next week, I checked Coulee playland last week, they said portions were frozen over, w/ a SLIGHT warming trend since last week, so good enough for me...

Im an idiot, but I will be a happy idiot

I know guys that hunt out there out of boats.  I've never been, so I really have no idea what the regs are for the area.

I should have said fishing boats.  I think the official rule is "no fishing from any floating device during hunting season."

Most of the time guys fish due to their comfort limit not the fishes.  I guess that is why no one fishes in the winter. Really you can catch fish its just alot slower action, but when you do get one it will be a big one.  The bigger the fish probably the more it has to eat in order to sustain its stature.  They cannot not eat all winter they would all die. If a guy is game and deal with the rain the cold the wind and the snow and ice then you can still catch fish, but you have to be a diehard!
I know folks can catch in the winter months. My problem is I don't own a boat and it's hard accessing the deeper water from the bank. I have a float tube but I have to be careful in the bellyboat if the winds are blowing strong. If I had a real boat you can bet you booty I'd be there.

I have caught all my winter largies in the smaller shallow lakes usually less than a cast from shore, on steeper shorelines with wood.
