Congrads to Hobbs and Wolsky for finishing 3rd at this tourney which was full of some serious sticks!   I hope  we can hear from Hobbs and get the story=).

Bill Simentel & Troy Linder won this event and I copied this story about how they did it from another website.

Bill & Troy put together an amzingly pattern to win this event. They fished one dock, and a small depression running parallel between two docks. The discovered the fish in there, would only eat their baits if presented from one angle. They’d catch one good one, then move away as other boats came into the area, so as not to give up a clue as to what they’d found. Then move back in as the boats left. Bill thought out of the box, he had the son of Al Linder in the boat with him who much like his dad, has a very unique approach to finding fish. Troy bought in and teamed well with Bill. Their attention to some very interesting details, paid off big for them in this event. Again a huge congrats to them both for their victory, and a big personal thanks for Bill & Troy, for taking the time after everyone had left the auditorium, to sit and talk with me

Washington anglers represent yet again!!! They skip the NW bass championship and the ABA NW division championship because of scheduling and decide to cruise down to Cali and scoop a 3rd place against that field at their championship that's AWESOME great job guys :)
Big congrats, Ron and Mike, on another excellent tournament finish. It doesn't matter where you guys go, you are going to catch them.

Well done, fellas!
Way to go Ron and Mike! Tell us a story...

ciao,

Good job Hobbit and Little Red :-)
Thanks to Mike Stahlman and Daryl Snodgras for trying to help us out for this one. It was very much appreciated. Even though we were not able to tap into there info. it is always helpful to get more insight on the body of water you are fishing. I also wanted to say thanks tin Jim Broberg and Kelly Kellog another Wa team. Kelly was kind enough to share with us the spinnerbait that we ended up catching all of our fish on.

Basically Mike and I went down with no expectations or rather low expectations of doing well in the tournament, since the Triton tournament was such a bomb. We decided regardless of the tournament we were determined to have a good time like usual, and if we needed to drop out of the tournament after the first day to go fish minnows to catch them we would. Fortunately, for us we did not have to do that since we were in 2nd after the 1st day.

How we went about it was fairly simple the plan was to use reaction baits and cover as much water as possible. The bite was super tough so we thought our chances were better fishing fast playing the cat and mouse game with the bass instead of trying to wiggle something slow in front of their faces. The other thing that made it an easier choice was that we had no practice time so reaction baits were a simple choice.

The first day of the tourney we had mostly all reaction baits on the deck, topwaters, jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, chatterbaits, and lipless baits. The plan was for both of us to cycle through the baits to see what would create the best reaction strike. Wolsky loves his spinnerbaits so that is what he started with and after he caught the 1st fish we decided that he would keep throwing that and I would cycle through the other baits seeing if they would strike those as well. After Wolsky caught the 6th fish to my mismal showing of one roll on a chatterbait and one roll on a lipless, and nothing on lesser worthy spinnerbaits it was time for me to change to the good spinnerbait. After that I caught one quick fish that culled a smaller one then Wolsky caught 2 more and we were up to 20#'s After that we hit up a couple more areas culling two more fish out with 5#ers and catching two others before weigh in time, ending our day with 22.56#'s and landing in second place for the day.

The second days weather changed from the day before with overcast skies and little drizzle to a 15- 25 mph wind coming out of the south and pouring down rain. This blew out our best area with mud and 2 to 3 foot waves, but we still managed to catch 5 keepers elswhere for the day the smallest about 2 pounds and the 5 weighed in at about 18.25#'s

The whole story of this tourney was finding those sweet spots in 1-3' of water and working them throughout the day with our spinnerbaits most bit when we popped our baits our ripped them and then let them drop for about 6" they would just inhale them. We tried slower techniques in those same sweet spots without a nibble, they really wanted something burned through there, specifically a spinnerbait. These sweet spots were filled with larger silverside minnows, weeds, and when you would chase those baitfish with your spinnerbait and get them worked up the bass would come in and start eating them, it was awesome the boils we were seeing, if we could have caught half the fish we seen feeding we would have walked away with the tourney. All in all it was a good two days of fishing, I think if we could have got 3 more bites on the last day we would have won.

Thanks again to all of our friends out there for their support.
Great job Mike and Ron. Thanks for the write up Ron.
