Whats everyone running for battery chargers ?  I have had so so luck with ProMariners since 2005.  I have had them go bad, but when contacting customer service, they made it right if it was under warranty.

My ProM gave up after a good 2-3 yrs, and I recently bought a 3 Bank Minn Kota Charger and got a pretty good deal on it.  It has a 3yr warranty, and as heavy as it is, it must be bulletproof LOL.  I think this one will last quite a while.  Who's bought a MK and how has it treated you?

Thanks

Chris,

Unfortunately had some bad luck with the MK 330 chargers. We have changed to NOCO and Professional Series Chargers.

Russ

I've had mine going on two years now.  So far so good.

Thats good to know Russ, thanks.  I'll keep a close eye on it !  I hope I get a good one, but with a 3yr warranty, they should make it right if something happens.

By the way, just a tip to anyone who owns a ProMariner, not sure if it applys to other brands:  When you plug in your charger, and unplug, always remove the plug at the wall outlet, not in between where the extension cord meets the Charger.  PM told me it causes all sorts of problems.  Before I knew that, it only took one time when I was in a hurry, to screw it up.  It was warrantied though without issue ;-) and part of the reason why I didn't buy another.

i've been running a mk 220 for a full year now and its still running good.  I had a BPS charger before that and the Mk is way bigger and heavier.

I have a Skeeter three bank charger which has just give up the ghost, is there any place that can fix them or is it better to just buy a new one instead?

I have thoroughly researched all of the battery charging options after having multiple problems with several brands that are OEM.  My first BASS invitational on the Columbia resulted in a 50th place instead of a top ten finish because of a faulty battery charger.  I made it a point then to find out what KVD, Larry Nixon, and many other touring pros used on their boats since they cannot afford to have bad battery chargers and bad batteries as a result.

If you need or want the best, or you are tired of chargers that burn-up your batteries, or chargers that fail when you get in rough water since they can't take the abuse, then look at the Stealth 1 Charging system (www.stealth1charging.com).  Sorry that this sounded so commercial, but this is easily the best boating accessory I have ever added to a bassboat.

ciao,
Marc Marcantonio

I have went through 3 BPS chargers in a 3 year period. I finally said enough and bought a MK 3 bank. Have had it for 2 with no problems.  Knock on wood.....
:-)  Thanks for the input.
I've had a 3 bank MK since 2006 with 0 problems and a fast recharge rate.  They are worth the money from my point of view.  That being said, I still wish I had another Stealth 1 like Marc endorsed.  The one I had was great, and easily outdid all the claims made about it.
Thats the about the same thing i went through exactly. I'm just not as smart and gave BPS one last try.....never again on a charger. The MK appears be be of better quality and it hasn't quit yet after 2 years.

Had the BPS brand went bad 11 months got warranty replace went bad 6months Got MK 2bank had it for 2yrs now perfect All on the small boat Big boat came with BPS xps 3 bank had 2yrs now seems fine I think the big thing is get a high amp output as this will lessen the time it needs to run to bring the battery's up Charges get hot when charging & that's what burns them out faster MK does a great job with the cooling fins on there's that is why its so heavy.
I have 2 Minn Kota onboard chargers in my boat.  One for my cranking battery and a 2 bank for my trolling batteries.  I only charge the cranking battery every other trip or after a long day of not much running and a lot of electronic use.  I am a fan of Minn Kota and have been pleased with their chargers!

Very good, with a 3 day weekend, mine should be installed soon.  Thank you very much everyone.
