Thanks Tag! Interesting indeed! I doubt many anglers spend enough time (if any) thinking about injuries and how to avoid them. I know the thought had never even crossed my mind before!
Mostly back/shoulder/elbow, no surprise there.
Fortunately, I don't think anglers in Washington State have too much to be concerned about. Dragging and dropshotting aren't the most demanding techniques on the tendons and ligaments.

However, long boat rides on the Columbia might take their toll on the back after a while.
Great article Tag, thanks for posting. I have back problems, probably from my job, but fishing weeknights and every weekend sure don't help. No dragging and drop shotting 24/7 over here lol, hilarious comment Tag.
My partner got hit by a duck in the head at 74 mph at the ABA this past weekend. That was interesting.
Good post, I got a hand injury this year from throwing a crankbait the month of May at Roosevelt. Luckily fish are not hitting cranks now, so it is just about healed up.
You shouldn't have been making unwanted passes at him.

No hooks stuck but had a non boater whack me up side the head with a super spook. It rang the bell but shook it off and had a minor headache till the next day.Keep on fishing. As like you CB4 my wrist not back hurt alot after pitching jigs and fishing all day,due to my job also.
Operating the trolling motor and everything else envolved w/ fishing and launching alone after knee surgury opened my eyes a bit. At 54 I can recover from the day of a thousand cast but if I can't stay on the deck in the the summer chop of Lk. Washington I'm screwed. Staying in shape and exersize hopefully will keep me in the game for a while.
I took a 1.5 ounce punch weight to the forearm when Hobbs set the hook on a piece of grass.... pretty sure it chipped the bone.... "it happens" and I also got a treble hook stuck in my Achilles tendon before... both still have associated pain. Besides those I can relate all my none Hook, Line and Sinker injuries I have to other sports I've played and the 8 years of Military service/

Interesting note though... I think many of the new school pros are taking into consideration these injuries and counteracting them by hitting the gym and eatting healthy. My biggest fault personally is not getting enough sleep. The body heals during sleep and staying up late at tourneys drinking beer makes for a long recovery period after 6 days of fishing.

I also have used that Cuff exercise many times throughout my life and it does wonders.
Who is this that you speak of? I am in need of a PT for my ankle. Why did you fire me as a semi pro staffer?

Those execises definately helped me in the spring of last year with an elbow injury from playing raquetball. Also, there was a physical therapist in Puyallup that helped quite a bit, especially when she gave me massages. Told her that I may need to get injured more often......
