Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Just got back from the FLW College Fishing Series on Lake Shasta, CA. Had an AWESOME time in the first tournament of the year.

My partner Dan Rice & I weighed in a solid 5-11 limit which put us in 6th place at the end of the day, which ended up being 2 ozs. from qualifying from regionals and $2,000 for the EWU Fishing Club. I felt we did great considering it was the first time ever being on Shasta and it was Dan's first tournament period.

We caught our fish drop shotting Yamamoto Kut Tails in 30-50 feet of water, and caught my first fish directly off the graph before, that was pretty cool. I had to use a heavier than usual Quickdrops dropshot sinker for fishing that deep as it was also a first for me really, never got above 3/8 oz. though.

Had a heck of a time out with the Washington guys the night before including Ron, Jim, Sean, Jon. Thank You guys for a good time and help on grasping the tough-bite dink-hole called "Lake Shasta". Along with Marc and other Washington guys who helped us along with way.

Great job also to the Washington State teams of Brent & Trevor, and James & Zack Schaff! Washington had 3 total teams out of the 40 that were fishing. It was the toughest biting tournament I've ever been apart of. It was a GREAT Experience and looking forward to Lake Roosevelt, AZ.

Look out for the EWU Fishing Club gear auction fundraiser coming soon!

Good goin Nick........wish it would have gone better for you guys.....when is the Arizona event?

Thanks Larry!  It is mid Febuary, then we have the Delta in May, Clear Lake in Sept.

Way to go, your training on our Washington lakes has prepared you well! Looking forward to more good reports.
There was some overlap, but the lake itself definately lays out differently than anything around here. Had a ton of light bites where you could feel them munching on the end of your dropshot worm. Those fish had been beat to death the past two weeks.

Great effort, Nick.  You were as close as possible and you sure beat a lot of teams.  Sorry you didn't qualify with this event but you will have fun trying again.  Good job.

ciao,
Marc

Right on Nick.  Way to get out there and represent!
Very cool nick! Congrats to the other Washington teams as well! Here's the results page http://www.collegefishing.com/tournament.cfm
You will love the Roosevelt trip! Sweet lake
Great job Nick, It's got to be tough to miss the cut after coming so close. I'll looked forward to cheering you guys on the rest of the tour.
Nicely done Nick.  Wish they had this when I went to college.

Great Job Nick! I watched the entire weigh in and it was exciting for a while thinking you might make the top 5!!  I had no idea you were in this.  I am sure your team will do great at the remaining tournaments as well!  It sure was a nice change of pace to hear them announce EWU was coming to the scales after having to watch Chico State teams weigh in one after another!  It was fun to watch you guys, the WSU teams, the Oregon teams, and the OSU teams weigh in!
