Are Loomis blanks still made in the USA? I was looking on their site, and found nothing about being American made. When Shimano bought them out did they quit making the blanks here?

I've been reading good things about their GL2 series rods, and they are more in my pricepoint than most Loomis rods. However, I have commited myself to only buying American made products whenever possible, so that is why I ask.

Hey John Mark, Well I know that there Higher end rods are still made in Woodland like there GLX, and IMX, but I am not sure about there other rods like the GL2 bass rods.  I am not sure. If you want I can find out for you.  I will talk to the rep tomorrow.
Thanks Curtis. I'm trying to decide on my next rod purchace. I've been very happy with my St Croix rods, but with all the hype around the GL2's I thought I would see what I could find out.
The Gl2 rods look and feel great, my only dislike is the split grip on casting rods where you would usually use two hands to throw it, the grips seem to be at an awkward spacing and don't feel comfortable to me. The spinning rods felt ok. They are at a decent price point if they prove to be durable and give some of that famous Loomis feel.
The gl2 rods are made here.  Per the man himself mike peruse the G-loomis rep.  well I hope to see you soon amn I will help you find what you are looking for.
I'd love too try one. A Loomis that is. I've looked at the Bronzeback's but I dont know? they sound like great rods but are they really worth 300 even 400 bucks? just asking... for the past 10 years ive just fished with bass pro shops rods, crankin stick, bionic blade, tourney special, extreme. I know when im dragging im not feeling everything, just the bigger bumps. can you really feel the differance??? enlighten me fellow Basser's!!!
For a long time I wouldn't believe that a rod could make that much difference, until I fished with someone that only has Loomis rods. I tried them and have been upgrading since. Try a GLX drop shot rod with a good reel and you will see, the weight, or lack of, alone will sway your thinking and I truly believe that the engineering put into them helps wear the fish down better for easier landing. If that's not enough persuasion fish with someone that keeps whipping your butt with a Loomis drop shot rod, under the same conditions I was using another brand and wasn't feeling the bites like he was. There are good rods out there but my choice is Loomis, you will appreciate the power to weight ratio and will feel more bites.
well ok. basically, im looking fora good pole for mylady. so she has "her own" pole for bass. I was looking at those BPS carbon lite rods, but saw some bad reviews. I want to make sure she feels everything, from bounceing a tube over a log to the smallest of P-gravel while dragging. I was looking at the 7'7" med-heavy bronzeback spinning rod, so she can drag, throw a 1/4 jig or a rattle trap. what do you guys think? would this be an ok rod for her to pitch a 1/4 jig/pig at silver lake also? or would an 8lber bust it up close to the boat? looking for an all around rod for her???
Thanks for looking into that for me! I think I'm gonna pick up an 852s and an 894c this winter. If anyone else has any input on the GL2's please chime in!

I hope Ron or Kent give you a response.  I know from my experience with Gloomis they are awesome.  GL2 and 3 for salmon and IMX, and GLX for bass.  I feel they stand out even with the recent resurgence of Dobyns and others...
With all the good things I've been reading about the new GL2 bass series rods, especially at their price point, I figured I had to look into it further. I know that everyone swears by their Loomis rods, but I'm just not to the point of dropping GLX or NRX kind of dough.
