I had a topic posted that involved this

SHould answer your questions

I have used mine and I love them. $100 difference I don't know how much better but anything that is better than a GLX (wieght sensitivity) even if it is a little, is quite impressive. then you have to ask yourself do you really need anything lighter or more sesitive.

I agree Ron, the rods are better than the GLX from a lightness/sensitivity point which is very impressive. One thing I will say is the actions seem a little lighter than the GLX, especially with the 893. I typically run 3/4-1 ounce football heads on my 893GLX rods and it handles them fine. The 893 NRX has way too soft of a tip for a 1 ounce and 3/4 is pushing it even IMO. The 854 NRX is probably a better heavy football head rod if that's what you're looking for.

The dropshot rod is very impressive, but I have problems with my line tangling in the guides towards the tip of the rod. Other than that no complaints.

I'm a tight-ass so I really have no say here other than $500 for a rod? I just don't get it. Never will. More power to you tho if you can justify the expense...or afford it...but I don't fish tournies and obviously fishing from a tube, just doesn't quite make sense. But I say you can catch nearly as many fish with something...say...less extravagent. Must look cool tho.

I'm not as much concerned with "Coolness" but I really feel that as a tournament angler that fishes 20+ tournaments every year that making the investment towards having the best gear out there makes sense. It may not help me catch a bunch more fish than someone using lower level gear, but, I feel that if it helps me catch 1 more fish, that could be the difference between 15th place and $200 or 1st place and $5,000.

Plus, no wife + no kids = more toys for Jordan! May as well stock up when I can!

Very good points.

I try to keep my spent money in America! No NRX for me! Arfter the new waranty terms no more new Loomis rods.

Unless I am missing something Loomis headquarters is Woodland, WA. From the blanks to the wraps are made and turned with american hands, employing many good hearted americans.

Yes it is owned by Japanese but the rods are still made with american hands and the company pays american taxes, and the company still pays washington state taxes, so what is your problem? They pay and employ americans and subject to paying the same taxes, way more american then the companies buying korean or chinese blanks.

Name more than 3 companies that use american blanks, and are wrapped here as well. Can you do it? If so hats off to you, What kind of reels do you use?  Are they made in America? If so which ones?

Thinking before you write is probably a good rule of thumb for you.

On top of that, are you picking on the nrx because that's when you realized shimano's ownership? They've been their parent company for years.
Waht ever kid!
