Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Received my Lowrance StructureScan unit today, and hope to mount it tomorrow or this weekend at the latest. Looking forward to using it, especially on Lake Washington.

When I get it all setup and put it to use I'll show some screenshots.

I also learned last night that you can actually overlay your traditional 2D view on top of your DownScan view to better show the position of fish. Pretty slick looking views.

Jake, I was just having fun, back. My electronics are a labor of love. I like to learn new things to prevent becoming clueless. Nobody needs all of my electronics to catch fish, but if you enjoy stuff like this it can sure make your fishing more fun and educational. Some of this stuff like the StructureScan makes you feel like an explorer in a new world. I, too, am looking forward even more to the Spring, and the Summer, and next Fall!

ciao,
Marc

lol...I was just goofing around Marc. This stuff on your boat seems so complicated. I go to check out the most basic fish finders, and I seem overwhelmed. I'm just not very good with electronics. When I read your post of your setup, my cpu (brain) absolutely crashed.

Good on you for not being intimidated by technology and really getting into it. If I were willing to invest the same time and finance, it would probably allow me to catch a lot more fish.

I checked out your pics, and those are pretty slick. I look forward to seeing some of the stuff you come across in the spring!

You are the young gun...this is all supposed to make better sense to you than an old guy like me! What's not to compute?

Geez, I feel slighted; I'm the one always teaching my own kids how to program their DVR's and fix their computers, and I don't even do electronics for a living.

Marc

My setup is the following: Two HDS-8's with Insight mapping, networked on a NMEA 2000 network (for all engine functions, oil and fuel level sensors, water temp sensors, fuel flow, etc), and networked with the ethernet cables to the StructureScan module.

With this setup you can view any transducer (sump and bow transducer, and StructureScan transducer) on either or both HDS-8 unit.

Well Marc you've sold me. Those images are incredible and I can tell you I never was able to get anything like that with my Side Imaging unit. As soon as the tourney this weekend is over I'm taking my boat in to upgrade to the HD Units and to install the structure scan. Am interested in the new transducer mounting bracket you are working on. If you get something figured out on that please let me know.
Shawn, the new transducer shield and saver for the LSS-1 is now finished and mine will be mailed to me tomorrow; unfortunately I will not have it in time for the weekend. I'll take photo's of it once I receive it and get it mounted.

Ron and I probably won't catch any bass this weekend because we will be too busy looking at the structure instead of fishing it!

ciao,
Marc

OK, here are the latest photo's showing the new Transducer Mounting from TransducerShieldAndSaver.com for the Slidemaster jackplate. Can't get a more rock-solid mount or cleaner install than this:

Thanks again for the progress pics Marc. I will be going the same route, since I also have a Slidemaster.
