Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

The weights were down from last year. Four teams had over 20lbs the first day compared to last year when there were eleven 20lb+ bags. The fishing was even tougher today with several teams struggling to catch a limit. Aaron Echternkamp and Dave Kromm won with over 19lbs today. Ron Hobbs Jr. and his partner took 6th (I think). Great job again Ron. IMHO you are the most consistent versatile angler I know. It is a shame just a little bit of your talent can't rub off on me.

I would add that my partner (Walter Bell) and I weighed 8.5lbs. We each had only fished Moses two days before this tourney so we had no expectations other than learning. We definitely accomplished that.
Mike Bess and Jeff Johnson had about the same weight as us (maybe a little less?) Mike wasn't the only one with extensive knowledge of the lake that struggled. Courtney Conklin, for example, is an outstanding and accomplished tournament fisherman, who lives five minutes from the lake, and he only caught 2 fish for about 6-7 lbs.
Fun tournament, fun lake, and looking forward to going back. Nixon's Marine puts on an outstanding event. I have never seen a tournament run more smoothly and professionally than what they put together.
I was highly disappointed in our finish this year. Josh Potter and I made the top 10 last year and were excited for this year after the pre- fishing. Unfortunately, The weather was what got us. We were on a pattern that primarily was based on Sun....and there was no sun. I agree with Eric that Gary and Lisa do a great job and Kent Brown is a great MC.

It Rained and was blowing a bit and cool. The water temps were from 52 to 57 depending on where you were.

I believe that the fish are about a week or 2 behind last year....but ALSO , the fish have been getting a lot more pressure than last year as well.

I hope they have it next year.......hopefully Things will be better for MY TEAM !

Nice consistent weights by Ron and Mike. Jordan and C-Ride didn't do that bad neither. Close weight for Marc M too. I see Henry Dover and Jack got a PIG, good fish WBC.
Myself and Shawn O'Connell got a hair over 13 lbs. We had never fished the lake, so like Eric, we were there to learn, and did better than we actually thought we would do. Gary runs a great tournament, and I can't wait to fish it next year.
Yes it was pretty tough conditions, WCCT and I tried for Largemouth for a couple of hours and then pretty much spent the rest of the day for smallmouth. We found one little ridge where we pulled 10 pounds in about 15 minutes. If it wasn't for that we'd have been doing a serious walk of shame. Does anyone else feel like they are fishing for second when Aaron Echternkamp and Dave Kromm are paired up. Maybe I can talk them into blessing my boat for me.

Gary and Lisa and the Priester's put on one heck of a tournament as always.
Where most of the limits largemouth or smallmouth?
Actually we had more than 8lbs but we will never know because I dumped the fish. Probably around 10ish. Couldn't get the LM to go and the SM were dinks... Learned what not to do AND what to do next time...... Great event and considering the conditions and the amount of pre fish pressure to make it in to day 2 was an accomplishment. I believe that 5-6 teams had 19 to 24lbs on day 1 which on any lake are great average weights!

I looked at the result. I got 51st with a 15hp engine fishing by myself. :)

The water temp where I started was 60 last Sunday and 52 on Saturday. It made it a little harder to figure out the fish.
If they were both: in the tournament and on the lake the first time, how could they have also prefished?

No, we didn't get to prefish at all. It was our first time ever on the lake, but not our last. It was a fun tournament, I just wish we could have got on some largemouth.

I think WCCT made a gracious attempt at answering your question but I think I can safely speak for everyone when I say: no-one knew what you meant.
