I have just looked at the most exciting rod I have ever seen! The new Loomis NRX bass rods.

What do you guys think of the looks all the way down the list of these rods?

I am not a big fan of the blue wraps but still I need to get my hands on some of these, It is hard to believe that you can get a better rod than a Loomis GLX.

I like my GLX's and for the NRX to be 15% more sensitive is amazing. Looking forward to trying them out as well. Like you, I don't care too much for the blue, but if it 'works' better than GLX I'll be happy.
$520-$540?? For a bass rod? Geeezus....I'll pass. But it is a Loomis and people will pay it
I am sure they are a great rod, but I agree with Jerry on this one. Over $500 for a rod is a little high for me. I still don't think their cosmetics with the new rods are very good compared to other split grip rod makers like Kistler and Dobyns. They are probably a sweet stick though.
They look interesting, but I have had a hard enough time getting my rods upgraded to the IMX and Mossyback level, I think these are probably a little out of the price range for the next few years.
Hi Ron,

I'm also stoked to get my hands on one. Chris Ferry said they are noticeably lighter than the current GLX, which is hard to believe.
If cosmetics is your deciding factor, you should take up cake decorating.

I think jury is still out. They seem to be following the market which is going to custom design. The custom guys are the most of the innovators when it comes to looks, everything about the NRX looks like allot of custom rods that have been built in the last 3 yrs. The butt cap with 2-tone cork and composite can be bought through Janns or Cabelas. When reading the comments from Tackle tour one characteristic of the NRX they mention is stiffer. So if you are a a finesse spinning person dragging, drop shotting the stiffer action may not be good. The GLX or or GL2 maybe a better fit. But it's always great to have those options. I also think Loomis is exceptional at their marketing.

I look forward to playing with them once they show up in some local stores.
The way I have been fishing lately, maybe I should. LOL. I would have liked to see them take more cork away from the handles. I wish they would have gone completely away with the fore grip so you can really get your hands on the blank.

I was lucky enough to be able to attend ICAST in Las Vegas this year again and see all the new Gloomis NRX rods and be able to get a fist hand look at how they are built. This is a new blank that is stronger, 26% lighter and more sensitive than the current GLX. This is an impressive rod. I would be keeping an eye on the Gloomis website in the following weeks there is going to be a big announcement.
