Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

I stopped by the new Sportsmans Warehouse this morning, just to check out the new store. I case you don't know where its at, take the fair exit and go to the top of the hill. Left at the light at 31st. NOTE! that intersection is photo controlled, so be on your best behavior. Its in the site of the old GI joes.  Its the same lot as the Walmart, Ram, Home Depot, Big Lots, and Petsmart.

I found the store looks like all the other sites. Overall it easily becomes the best outdoors store in Puyallup. Dicks ain't bad, but is light on selection by comparison.

Of course as we all know the bass gear plays second fiddle to the slimer gear, but has a lot of the common stuff.  So if your looking for senkos, some zoom, strike king, rebel and rapala, they'll have most of the common colors and baits. Did see they are carrying a pretty good selection of the KVD labeled strike king.

Otherwise the Salmon/Steelhead/trout, Hunting, camping, clothing sections all look as well stocked as ever. For you guys heading to the Puyallup river, they have all the pink stuff for the Humpies.

Their grand opening is this saturday, they are giving away $25.00 gift cards to the first 300 families.  Have fun, I'll be on Silver Lake.

And maybe stay the hell away from the Wal mart..They just donated 36 million to anti-fishing groups. August 17th 2011. May want to think about it. And check it out.
Haven't seen the sportsman in Puyallup yet, but the Wholesale Sports at the end of Hwy 18 in Federal Way is stacked with Bass Gear.  They did a good job so far stocking the shelves.  Went in for line yesterday and bought 4 packs of Senkos (like I need more) for $5 each, R2Sea hardbaits 20% off, got a nice Rover.  All Berkley Havoc is $2 each, if you are slaying them on that.  A little Musky gear there too, though half of it would work for bass ;-)
Hey Todd, got any more info. on that or is it just a rumor? I am sure FLW Outdoors would be proud of this. I have a laundry list of emails at FLW I would like to send some info. to.

That sounds fishy... seeming how Wal-Mart is the main sponsor of the FLW tour again. I'd like to see the source.

There might be a bit of misinformation about this floating around on the internet. I don’t know all the details but it sounds like someone is just trying to bash Walmart.

Its a good store,if they don't have what your looking for,be sure to mention it. Just like any vendor, they want to hear direct from the customers. Saturday is the grand opening. First 300 people through the door receive a $25 gift card.

Sweet deal Kevin B, thanks for the heads up.

The Wholesale Sports in Federal Way has done a fantastic job of listening to the bass anglers. Theron, and the other gentlemen who works the fishing area are great guys, and allways looking to improve the selection. They have the best bass variety in the south end. Ever since ASM let Chris go, they haven't been up to par in my opinion. Sportco is never looking to keep up to snuff, which is a huge disapointment considering I have a membership. You figure a store like that would be able to keep up with our demands. I wish we had a store entirely devoted to bass, but that will never happened.
Theron, thats his name.  I had a nice chat with him once.  College student, getting into bass and doing pretty good from the sounds of it.  I agree with your post Chad.

I will continue to give my money to the local guys still, 3 Rivers Marine.

Also for those down south, I hear Limit Out Marine is getting some real good stuff (bass gear) in, for those that want to visit Chris as well...

Good call Nick,I went into Limit Out a few weeks ago and picked up a few Mad Bass tubes and hooks. It was great to bs with Chris, the guy knows his stuff.

If Three Rivers was closer,it would certainly be my regular pit stop. I like Wholesales selection on bass/musky gear and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Sportsmans will follow suite. Its not a big deal to drive to Federal Way but the new store is a half mile away and I picked up a part time job there....I won't lie,I want to use my discount.

No problem Chris, been meaning to attend more Western Bass functions, just have had a full plate that has kept me busy all summer and now I'm gearing up for a northern pike tournament next weekend. Just never enough time. See you folks soon
