Thanks PJ i believe your right.

Now comes the decision. haha

That's the one, the other great thing about this rod is that it is made in America and one thing better than that is that it is made right here in Washington state. I wish that Dobyns where atleast wrapped in the US every little bit helps, then on the other Loomis is now owned by Shimano which is Japanese, and Dobyns is owned by himself, so atleast we are supporting an American's Livlihood. Whichever way Austin goes I think he will be happy. I didn't take a good look at the Dobyns but I would like to give it a shot one of these days, just so that I can compare them and give them a fair review. Just in the hand at the tackleshop, it seems they are balanced well, but you really don't know how they are going to load and cast until you get out on the water. Dobyns says himself they are not built for weight but for balance, which I think he achieved that.

Thanks ron i agree they seem balanced well

Ron, Three Rivers has a number of the demo rods that you can try for a couple weeks if you want free of charge. Worst case you get entered into the drawing :). That goes for everyone else too, trying out the Dobyns rods are free for the demo's. Pretty cool program.

This rod also makes for an awesome shaky head, splitshot, and flickshake rod for smallmouth. I did a ton of that type of fishing over in Montana for divisionals last year, granted they were all 1.5-2lbers but seemed to perform well.

What if I break it? If Wafish wants product reviews If you will buy it I will use and abuse it and give you honest opinions! I don't have a problem telling people if something sucks or if something is great.

Yeah I agree, I use small topwaters with it as well, it has a good action so those little hooks won't pull out.  Like I said before this is the rod I would recomend anyone that has finesse techniques like you describerd in their mind.  It is definetely the best out there.  People really don't understand the difference between it and the DSR but the differences are huge, The taper in my opinion is the best.
