I heard it was tough over there for most anglers, but someone found them day one with 29+ pounds? Anyone have a report from the tournament?

I don't have the results for you but I can tell you that just a hair over 40lbs won it.  I have never seen the fish shut down as much as they did over there over the weekend.  I got 1 bite on Saturday and 0 bites on Sunday.  I think my buddy O'Connell weighed in 15 and some change on Sunday and that was the one of the biggest, if not the biggest smallmouth bag of the weekend.  He struggled like I did on Saturday with 2 small fish for 2lbs and some change and scraped the 15+ bag on Sunday for a 17th place finish.  Tough, tough, tough!!!!

Anyone hear how Russ Baker finished by chance ?

I know he only had 5lbs on Saturday, but not sure of how things went on Sunday for him.

Amazing how all his 8lbers keep getting smaller every year :)

Well Sunday for us was even tuffer. Saw 25-26 fish from 4-9 lbs that wouldnt bite squat. Found 64 degree temps for two days and just couldnt get anything going. Thats fishing!!

Russ

Russ, I heard similiar things from other guys back in the dunes.  Very frustrating!

Amen to that brother, all my fish from the week before vanished. Ive nenver been so frustrated on Pothles before. My son and I were fishing around Russ and he could not believe it either.

Something wasn't right out there. We weighted over 29 pounds on Sat last year. Pre fishing we thought we had some stuff figured out, and we got zeroed. We started right next to Harnasch on Sat. We were talking with him, and nothing.

I would have thought the nice weather would have really triggered the fish, but it seemed to almost due the opposite. We just saw lots of things that didn't make sense. The water was warmer, but didn't see carp like normal. The smallmouth fishing should have been off the hook, but it wasn't

As soon as I get the results sent to me I will post them up.

Kudos to Mr. & Ms. O'connell on Sunday!!  We stopped by their area the last half hour on Sunday and watched them finish their limit in the last 10 minutes of fishing!  Made us second guess our decision to LM fish on Sunday!!

Thanks Bruce, we were pretty lucky in my opinion as I have no idea why the bite was so tough. This is the second year in a row we have placed 17th and my wife has caught the biggest fish both years. I hope she does it again on Palmer this weekend.

By the way those new power poles look sweet.
