I just got the Abu Garcia Vendetta 6' 9" medium action rod for little texas rigs and 4" senkos. I love it, its strong, lightweight and really sensitive. I have the Abu Garcia Soron SX spinnin reel for it and its a great reel. Its super smooth and has a really good drag.
i have alot of success throwing the senko with a 6'6'' ugly stick medium action rod teamed with a daiwa crossfire reel i run 12 pound test izor line. i have had no problem throwing into thick brush and vegitation. For me i like a rod that i can fish multiple species and this combo definetly proved its self over and from bass to salmon. i spend alot of time on the water. This last humpy season alone i hooked probably 400 fish and its still going strong while other rods have faulterd.
Austin I bought a Lamiglas Excel 703 medium Dropshot/Shaky rod last year and I found it to be exceptional for fishing 4 and even 5 in Senkos weightless. It does double as my heavier cover Dropshot rod as well. Lamiglas says the 704 is the one designed for Senkos because it has the extra power but I have not had a problem catching good largemouth and smallmouth on the 703 even around brush and willows. The 703, since it's a 7' can throw a Senko a mile and it is the most sensitive rod I have fished Senkos on I can feel the lightest pickups. If you are fishing in or around a lot of vegetation or wood I would say listen to Lamiglas and go with the 4pwr or more of a MH but if you can get away with it the 703 is a great rod for light plastics and Senkos. I have it coupled with an Okuma Hardstone spinning reel and 14lb Fireline Smoke. I have essentially been fishing this same setup for Senkos and Light T-rigs since I started Bass fishing 6-7 yrs ago. The only thing that is different now is I went from a 6'6'' rod to a 7' and 10lb braid to 14lb braid. I have probably caught more fish on this setup than any other!!! Plus for the money the Lamiglas Excel series is nice $100 rods made in the USA, Lifetime warranty & split grips...
My senko rod is a Loomis SJR782 GL2. I have caught more fish with this rod than any of my others. I pair it with a Quantum Energy pti-a reel. If you can handle a couple extra ounces of weight, I recommend the Quantums (never really used Shimano spinning). Pflugers are also nice, and easier on the wallet.
talk to dean @ www.reelinvasive.com - rumor has it, he is not working enough.

you need a beefy [cdn grade EH] stick for it. last year i threw it on a CRC-S711H, but now that i think aboot it it should really work well with a 711 SBRMH.
Thanks guys
I have been looking at the excel rods.
+1. P.J. did his homework.

+2 PJ, I have that exact same rod on order!
I have become a real fan of the Bass Pro Shops Tourney Special series, both in spinning and bait casting. I know they're considered a "mid-range" rod, but I like the feel, and have caught lots of fish on them. I've been using a 6' 6" medium action rod with a Quantum Hypercast reel. I can side-arm and underhand roll cast with this combo better than anything else I've tried. I use either 10 lb P-line FlouroClear line or 10 lb Power Pro with a flourocarbon leader.
G-Loomis GLX BSR852... 7'1" Plenty of strenth and power matched with a Daiwa spinning reel 2000 or 2500
