Ive had a great year this year. Fished more largemouth this year than last and its paid off with quality fish. Gotten better at jig fish, caught my first swimbait green. Had a blast frog fishing. With one hell of a day on lake wa

I've done pretty good on the smallies this year as well. Ive been able to get out on the bigger lakes more which i feel is making me a better angler.

Fished 2 tournies this year and did crappy in one along with more than half of the field and then took 2nd place in a columbia river tourney with a great bag of smallies after a great prefish.

Overall ive been very happy with the way the year has gone for me.

I haven't fished nearly as much as I would have liked..but I have fished, and caught fish. Any time you can get out, it's good. I can't complain. Been a good year so far.
been ok. not fishing like i wanna... 12, 13 even the 14 hourdays are killin me lol monday thru saturday is "work" sunday is a sleep day.
The year has been really good for me.  I have not fished much but a lot of positive things have been happening in my life and that in turn makes the little amount of fishing I do seem more fun!  Had a couple really fun trips to Eastern WA to get some frog and jig fish and a few exciting trips to some local lakes here for smallies on jerkbaits and such.  Fished the Columbia River for the first time in my life and that was one heck of an experience thanks Ron!

Been a great year for learning about what not to do for me... popped my professional career off this year from non-boater to boater and it has really paid off on building my confidence. Have not made much money...actually lost alot this year but the experiences gained from putting your money where you mouth is... it's unmatched in my opinion.

On the FLW Everstarts Western division I'm sitting in like 50th something place points wise which really sucks but we have one more tourney at Clear Lake, CA in SEP which I'm looking forward to. Done well there in the past and like the lake alot. I think if I finish in the Top 40 there I'll have a chance to qualify for the Everstart Championship at Kentucky Lake in OCT. Still up and down on whether I'll go but if money is there I will.

nice topic

Like many I haven't fished as much as I'd like to and I have learned quite a bit about what not to do....That said although I've caught fewer fish this year, so far, I've definitely caught better quality fish this year.  I now have confidence in several baits I didn't last year and I think I've sharpened my skills more.  Like someone else said any time you catch fish it's a good day and I've had a couple good ones.

My biggest gain this year is my confidence in pitching Texas rigged tubes as well as jig fishing.  Really liking the yum money craws and I've gotten a lot of nice feed back from the fish....I've been playing with swim baits more and although I haven't caught a fish on one I've had some followers which have inspired me to throw them more often...

Thank you to all who post here, I learn a lot from them...

I've done a ton of fishing, just not as much bass fishing as I'd like.  Early spring was weird with the water being high and the pre spawn taking so long to get going on the big river around tri cities, Snake and I still managed to have a couple good days.  Fished Samm during the spawn for the first time this year, has 3-4 great days, that place is a blast when the smallies are on the beds.  Also had 2 great days on the largemouth there fishing beds.  I learned a ton about the small nuances of the drop shot and how a very small change in tactic can make all the difference.  Experimented with the neko rig on beds as a follow up bait and was pleased with the results.  Had one insane day at Samm fishing solo during spawn when it was blowing 25-20mph, tough to control the boat but the fishing was off the hook.  Have caught a ton (literally) of trout at Rufus, that place is a kick in the pants, just think finesse bass fishing.  Looking forward to killing boat loads of pinks here in the bay in the coming weeks.  Only downfall has been that the high lakes have had too much snow to hike into them, so I haven't been able to get up there and throw flies.

Cool Thread Travis ,

This year has been one busy but yet fun year for me thus far , it seems like the year has just blew by so fast..

This year was my first year not fishing the Federation Quailfiers ,since i went too Nationals down in Tennessee and had to finance the entire trip i couldnt afford to also fish the three events sheduled this year :-(  ...However i did enjoy myself at the TBF Jamboree this year on banks lake (first time)

Outside of that this year was my first year fishing all of the NW Bass tournies events with my new Tourney Wife Crazyhorse aka Tyler  ..lol We have been having a blast all year long and im very blessed that we fish well as a team .

We have learned so much in a short period of time fishing against washingtons most elite bass anglers . At this point , we have banks lake here in a couple of weeks and it appears that we have Rookie Team of Year locked up , not too mention we also cashed a nice check this season which helped us break even on finances for fishing the circuit . (awesome season) :-)

I have a great deal of respect for Gary & Lisa for putting on one of the Best Bassfishing events in this state . It is hard work and requires great leadership and everyone who attends these events can clearly see that the job is getting done so thanks Gary & lisa !!

As for personal improvements , im soooo glad that Mr Watson has made a flipp'n jig that catches bass extreamly well . This Jig has allowed me to build a great deal  of confidence with my jig game over the season which is something that i has struggled with in the past .. (Thanks taggy)

last thing , Growing the sport in our state is something that i take too heart !! I try my best to give advice by way of Video Filming , replies too threads , attending public events like The sportsman show etc .

These are just a few things that make me feel proud that  as we come near the end of another season i have played a roll in motivating and even couched a hand few of anglers to become permanent residents in our bass community . I honestly feel like more of anglers need to take the time to grow our sport in order too continue a heathly lifespan of the bass community here in this state . My Hats off too the anglers that have done there part and i applaud your efforts too continue that in the future guyz..

Btw the angler that started this thread is a prime example of why growing the sport is a major benifit , Travis im proud of you bro for making the state team , and thanks for representing our community in the way that you do young man , keep it up !!

As some of you know, I have been fighting a major illness now for 1 1/2 years, so I haven't fished as much as I would have liked, plus at the Divisionals in New Mexico I grenaded the lower unit and just got the boat back a week ago.  But what little fishing I have done this year has been ok.  Some early tourney sucess, was doing ok at the divisional until day 3, we will see what the rest of the year holds.  Next year I plan to get back to full tourney mode and fish BASS qualifiers and either ABA or NW bass again.

The good side is that I am starting to get somewhat healthier and can actually enjoy the fishing and not have it hurt nearly as much as it was in the past.

Looking forward to the Mickleson Open, the Frostbite and the club team tourney at the end of the years.

Mark

I've been out a little and caught some fish.  Guess I can't complain.  I hadn't even made a cast yet at this same time last year.
Good to hear Mark, saw you're at 9's now, congrats on the promo.  Talk to you soon.
