Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Went to Tapps yesterday for a drive around.  It was truly amazing/sickening.  I am a bit worried about the fishery short term, but if you think about it, there may be some plus sides to it.  If there is a "munch-fest" going on in the ponds right now (not too likely in 40 deg water), it's mostly the 6-10 fish that are getting munched.  We've all been pissing and moaning about the overabundance of under 12" SM, well now they should get managed down a bit, leaving bigger fish.  Also, more Rock Bass are probably being depleted from fish and bird predation then ever before...yah!

It's really cool to locate visually stuff that came up on sonar, but I couldn't quite make out.  I saw 2 car motors, and 2 safes with broken doors rusting away, bridges, train tussles, platforms, docks, tree lines, ditches.  In one spot a brush field that I never new about.  I even got to go into the north end park and take photos.  We gotta take the good with the bad, and there is definitely a cool side to this tragedy.

Yah, someone on another (earlier) post was warned to not do that or face a fine.  What is this world coming to where a person can be threatened "legally" for trying to help others, or the environment.

No wonder no one want to help in conservation efforts.

Curious, is there a sewer system for the houses on that lake or are they on septic? Making that a drinking water reservoir will probably be the end of anything but sailboats out there. The last couple times I was on the lake it was a joke, between the idiots on the water and home owners demanding us to stay away from the shoreline I decided that would be my last time dealing with that. It's a shame for those that enjoyed the fishery as it was and the homeowners that enjoyed being able to use the lake they get so heavily taxed for.

The refill has begun:  http://cascadewater.org/2015/03/16/important-lake-tapps-reservoir-i...

From the Cascade web site:

"Cascade Water Alliance began refilling the Lake Tapps Reservoir system over the weekend. The speed of the refill is dependent on the available flows in the river.  The target for reaching recreational lake (reservoir) levels remains Memorial Day weekend."

Yipee. Lets hope we get more mountain rain.
